Role Summary/Purpose

The Mobile Engineer craves working in a hands-on mobile application coding, design, and architecture environment; will build and support our mobile applications by creating and developing thoughtful solutions to anticipate bugs and maintain operational excellence. In short, you would be one of our Android wizards.

You'll participate in hack-a-thons, partner with universities on innovation events, and work with our Innovation Station. Essential Responsibilities:
  • Develop Mobile native applications using Swift/SwiftUI/Java/Kotlin/Jetpack Compose as a member of the development team
  • Leveraging AI tools for development and testing mobile applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
  • Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability.
  • Work on bug fixing and improving application performance.
  • Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement modern technologies to maximize development efficiency.
  • Adhere to the compliance with architecture, security and technology standards set by Synchrony Financial
  • Participate in Scaled Agile Train level activities and ceremonies consisting of cross-functional teams
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned


Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related degree OR, in lieu of degree, High School Diploma with 2 years of experience with Android application development
  • Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required


Desired Characteristics:
  • Prior Mobile development experience
  • Desire to learn and grow as a strong contributor in the Mobile development space
  • Familiarity of the Scaled Agile, SAFe model and roles and responsibilities
  • Familiarity with libraries and frameworks such as Retrofit, Dagger 2 and RxAndroid
  • Familiarity with continuous integration environments
  • Familiarity writing unit, integration and UI test cases
  • Familiarity with JSON, REST and XML based web services


Grade/Level: 08

The salary range for this position is 75,000.00 - 120,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

We're proud to offer you flexibility. At Synchrony, our way of working allows you to have the option to work from home near one of our Hubs or come into one of our offices. You will be required to commute to your nearest Hub (either virtual or physical) for in-person engagement activities such as regular business or team meetings, training and culture events.
