Job Description:

General Objectives:

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the Maintenance Advisor - Execution is a salary exempt role that typically works a 4-3 schedule. The role of the Maintenance Advisor - Execution is intended to focus on managing execution of day-to-day maintenance operations, by engaging with front line supervision. The Execution Advisor is accountable for ensuring that all equipment performance targets and work management KPIs are achieved within the constraints of the maintenance budget. The Execution Advisor will safely support, organize, manage, execute, and evaluate mobile maintenance work.

Key Areas of Responsibilities & Duties:

The key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Maintain a safe, healthy, and clean environment by ensuring that Marigold's safety values are present in all aspects of work execution.
  • Lead, supervise, and develop maintenance supervisors and staff in such a manner that fosters a high performance, empowered team capable of achieving safe, efficient, and effective results.
  • Promote consistency of administration of policies and procedures between crews to ensure that the department's tactical direction is aligned.
  • Develop and maintain positive and effective professional working relationships with vendors and co-workers.
  • Conduct safety meetings, staff meetings and safety inspections. Demonstrate a strong personal commitment to safety and the environment.
  • Oversee the hourly review process. Evaluate performance reviews and provide feedback to Supervisors.
  • Promote consistency in the hiring process to ensure Marigold is competitive and attracts a qualified and diverse team.
  • Ensure that proper tools and inventory are always available to maintenance crews and is effectively managed in such a manner as to enable safe completion of all maintenance work.
  • Oversee (PTO) paid time off and (OT) overtime scheduling.
  • Oversee new hire training and continued training of Maintenance employees.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision and to effectively plan, coordinate and complete individual projects in addition to maintaining daily production responsibilities.
  • Monitor performance against budget and time schedule. Provide accurate explanations of variances.
  • Assist in investigations and administer discipline when required.
  • Support and grow a culture of continuous improvement within the maintenance department.
  • Managing the performance of his/her team through relevant performance objectives.
  • Complete performance evaluation reviews for direct reports and manage their career development with an annual plan.
  • Provide facilitation and support for site OE Projects, and Maintenance Process workshops.
  • Provide facilitation support for the (MOC) management of change associated with the acquisition of new equipment as required.
  • Research and write AFE's for potential new mining equipment.
  • Liaise with Supply Chain to expedite external parts and contractor labor suppliers, where necessary.
  • Support Marigold Contract Management, by participating in negotiations of new service contracts, assigning contract representatives, and monitoring adherence to the standard.
  • Report on standard maintenance measures that are directly related to the production fleets - namely: availability, mean repair duration, mean time between maintenance, component usage and cost (actual versus budget) monthly.
  • Provide input and feedback to Reliability Engineer to assist in improving overall equipment performance.
  • Spend time in engaging with the supervisors and workforce, ~50% of working time.
  • Ensure on time and accurate reporting of any incidents that are a result of Health, Safety and Environmental compliance.
  • Support quality incident investigations (injury, significant near-miss, equipment damage and premature component failures), complete with detailed RCA (root cause analysis) and practical corrective actions. Ensure that the corrective actions are effectively implemented and tracked.
  • Contribute to MSHA investigations when required. In addition, be involved with any remediation that may be required - associated with citations/recommendations from MSHA audits.
  • Performs duties and activities in a manner that conforms to all safety practices and other policies, procedures and standards that are established by the company or required by law
  • Performs additional duties as required

Required Skills:
  • Knowledge and unwavering commitment to safety and health compliance and principals.
  • Strong knowledge of Surface Mining operations including HSE, Maintenance and Operations.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient ability in problem solving and strong analytical skills required.
  • Strong ability to influence, persuade and motivate individuals or groups to achieve desired outcomes in a professional and morally ethical way.
  • Must be efficient in the use of Excel, Outlook and Word with experience using computer-based ERP, systems.
  • Demonstrated history of a high level of safety leadership.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple priorities while maintaining a safe work culture.
  • Experience with maintenance CMMS such as SAP, Oracle, JDE, Pronto, eMaint, etc.
  • Experience with CAT SIS or other OEM Specialized Systems
  • Experience with condition monitoring practices such as oil analysis, vibration analysis, ultrasonic testing, thermography, etc.
  • Proficiency in conducting failure analysis and in the use of root cause investigation techniques
  • Familiarity with Power BI Reports, or like system
  • A good work ethic with the ability to work well with company and vendor personnel


Required Experience:
  • Must have a minimum of 8 years' experience in the mining industry with a minimum of 3+ years of sound supervisory leadership experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Formal vocational/technical certification and training preferred.
  • Capability to lead, mentor and develop staff.
  • Experience managing or supervising an equipment reliability program, preferred
  • Minimum 3 years planning, budgeting, and work management experience, preferred
  • Exposure to Project Management tools and techniques. Mechanical qualification in Maintenance Planning/Asset Management, preferred.
  • Driver's license
