Role: Microsoft SQL Database Administrator Location: NYC, NYEmployment: FulltimeJob Summary:The Capgemini Financial Services (FS) DCX Marketing Agency is seeking a highly experienced Microsoft SQL DBA Administrator with strong development expertise (with experience in both SQL coding and MS SQL Server administration) to join our Software Engineering team. This role is ideal for someone who excels in managing and optimizing SQL Server environments while also contributing to the development and automation of database processes. Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS RDS, is a strong advantage.
Key Responsibilities:Database Administration:- Manage and maintain Microsoft SQL Server instances across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Monitor and optimize database performance; troubleshoot and resolve performance issues.
- Implement and maintain high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and security protocols.
- Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations.
- Develop and manage backup and recovery strategies aligned with RPO and RTO requirements.
- Conduct regular data integrity checks and restore testing.
- Enforce data security through encryption, access control, and auditing.
- Use tools such as SQL Server Profiler, Extended Events, and third-party monitoring solutions to proactively monitor database health.
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks, deadlocks, and long-running queries.
Development & Automation:- Design and develop database objects including stored procedures, views, triggers, and functions.
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize database schemas and queries.
- Automate administrative tasks using PowerShell, T-SQL, or other scripting tools.
Cloud Database Management (Preferred)- Manage and optimize SQL Server databases hosted on AWS RDS.
- Support the migration of on-premises databases to cloud platforms like AWS RDS.
Required Qualifications:- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Microsoft SQL Server Administrator. Must have experience with both SQL coding and MS SQL Server administration.
- Database Administration: Deep expertise in SQL Server administration, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and security.
- HA/DR: Strong understanding of SQL Server HA/DR solutions (e.g., AlwaysOn, Mirroring, Log Shipping).
- Development Skills: Proficient in T-SQL and experienced in developing stored procedures and other SQL components.
- Scripting: Experience with PowerShell or similar scripting tools.
- Cloud Knowledge: Familiarity with AWS RDS or other cloud database services (preferred).
Preferred Qualifications:- Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE) in SQL Server.
- Experience with AWS cloud platforms.
- Hands-on experience migrating databases to cloud environments.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
The base compensation range for this role in the posted location is: $61087 - $104364
