Job Summary
Microsoft 365 Architect responsible for end-to-end architecture and design authority across the Microsoft 365 environment, including collaboration, messaging, content services, compliance, and low-code automation. The role is accountable for architecture decisions, design documentation, technical standards, governance, and L3 escalations requiring architecture-level intervention. The position will partner with client IT leadership, security, infrastructure, network, and identity teams while providing technical leadership to offshore L3 engineering resources.

Key Responsibilities
• Own the target-state architecture for Exchange Online, on-premises Exchange hybrid environments, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Teams, file collaboration, Power Platform, and Microsoft Purview.
• Produce and maintain HLDs, LLDs, design decision records, as-built documentation, standards, and reference patterns.
• Define tenant configuration baselines, governance guardrails, and lifecycle policies for sites, teams, groups, guests, and external sharing.
• Assess and remediate technical debt involving legacy Exchange servers, public folders, unsupported clients, orphaned sites, and oversized OneDrive environments.
• Conduct design reviews and provide signoff for high-risk or architecturally significant changes.
• Design and govern hybrid Exchange topology, mail routing, connectors, Autodiscover, free/busy, and cross-forest coexistence.
• Own mail hygiene and transport architecture using Exchange Online Protection and Defender for Office 365, including anti-spam, anti-phishing, transport rules, and journaling.
• Design and govern SPF, DKIM, and DMARC configurations and enforcement across sending domains, including third-party senders.
• Own application relay mail architecture, including SendGrid domain authentication, dedicated IPs, sub-user and API key models, suppression lists, deliverability, bounce management, IP warm-up, and reputation monitoring.
• Own enterprise email signature and disclaimer management using Exclaimer, including template design, directory attribute mapping, campaign banners, departmental and regional rules, and Exchange Online integration.
• Define mailbox provisioning standards, shared and resource mailbox models, retention, and archiving strategies, including migration from legacy archive platforms.
• Architect SharePoint Online information architecture, including hub sites, topology, navigation, metadata, search, content types, and term stores.
• Design file share and legacy SharePoint migration strategies using tools such as ShareGate, Migration Manager, and Mover, including sizing, throttling, cutover, and validation.
• Define OneDrive Known Folder Move, sync client policies, storage quotas, retention for departing users, and offboarding data handling.
• Define permissions models, sharing controls, sensitivity-label-driven site protection, and access review processes.
• Design and implement Microsoft Purview sensitivity labels, auto-labeling, and DLP policies across Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and endpoints.
• Design retention labels and policies, records management, litigation hold, and eDiscovery Premium workflows in collaboration with Legal and HR teams.
• Implement Insider Risk Management, Communication Compliance, and Audit Premium capabilities where applicable, including triage and escalation processes.
• Map regulatory and customer security requirements to Microsoft Purview configurations and supporting evidence artifacts.
• Define Power Platform governance, including environment strategy, DLP and connector policies, Managed Environments, CoE Starter Kit adoption, licensing, and capacity management.
• Provide architecture and solution guidance for Power Apps, Power Automate, and Dataverse and establish application lifecycle management using solutions and pipelines.
• Identify and support automation opportunities that improve operational efficiency and reduce service desk and operational workload.
• Act as the final technical escalation point for M365 P1/P2 incidents, lead root-cause analysis, and drive permanent remediation through problem management.
• Participate in M365 CAB reviews, evaluate and approve RFCs, define rollback plans, and validate potential impact and blast radius.
• Monitor Microsoft 365 roadmap and Message Center changes and assess their impact on the environment and architecture.
• Collaborate with client IT leadership, security, infrastructure, network, identity, service desk, operations, and offshore L3 teams.

Required Qualifications
• 12+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, including 6+ years of experience in Microsoft 365 architecture and migrations.
• Strong hands-on expertise across Microsoft 365 products and services, including Exchange Online, Exchange Server hybrid, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Power Platform, and Microsoft Purview.
• Strong experience designing and governing Microsoft 365 tenant architecture, configuration baselines, security controls, and lifecycle policies.
• Strong experience with Exchange hybrid architecture, mail routing, connectors, Autodiscover, free/busy, and cross-forest coexistence.
• Experience with Exchange Online Protection, Defender for Office 365, anti-spam, anti-phishing, transport rules, and journaling.
• Strong understanding of SPF, DKIM, and DMARC and third-party email sender integration.
• Experience with SendGrid and enterprise email relay architecture.
• Experience with Exclaimer for enterprise email signatures and disclaimers.
• Strong SharePoint Online and OneDrive architecture and migration experience.
• Experience with SharePoint information architecture, permissions, metadata, search, content types, and external sharing controls.
• Experience with Microsoft Purview sensitivity labels, DLP, retention, records management, eDiscovery, and compliance capabilities.
• Strong Power Platform governance experience, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, DLP policies, Managed Environments, and ALM.
• Experience producing HLDs, LLDs, architecture decision records, technical standards, and as-built documentation.
• Experience leading L3 escalations, root-cause analysis, change governance, and production issue resolution.
• Strong client-facing communication, stakeholder management, architecture review, and technical leadership skills.
