About The Role

We're hiring a Member of the M&A Team to source, evaluate, and help close acquisitions of businesses with $1-10M of annual EBITDA. This is a high-ownership role on a deliberately lean team, and you'll be involved in acquisitions from first meeting to close.

Responsibilities
  • Source and build a pipeline of acquisition targets within our buy box, through proprietary outreach and our sourcing partners
  • Run introductory calls with owners - build rapport, qualify fit, and represent Special as a partner of choice against traditional private equity.
  • Lead due diligence end-to-end: financial analysis, business operations, customer contracts, and legal and regulatory review.
  • Build and own the financial models - valuation, deal structuring (debt vs. equity), and the post-acquisition value-creation case.
  • Drive deals from initial sourcing through close, keeping momentum across owners, lenders, and internal stakeholders.


Basic Qualifications
  • A track record sourcing, evaluating, and closing business acquisitions, ideally in the $2-10M EBITDA range.
  • 3 years of experience in healthcare investment banking or 1 year of experience in private equity
  • Deep expertise in financial modeling, valuation, and due diligence.
  • Strong feel for Main Street services businesses and the owners who run them.


Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Background in accounting or finance, or an MBA.
  • Passion for the tech industry, AI, venture capital, or startups
  • Exposure to fundraising from investors or LPs


Location

In-person in NYC.

Compensation and Benefits

$120,000-$150,000 base with an opportunity to earn $50,000-$100,000 annual bonus.
