Full Job Description
Job Description (General Summary)

Some engineering roles hand you a playbook and ask you to follow it. This isn't one of them.

We're building a new team with a single mission: make our systems perform at their absolute best. As a Test Engineer on our Business Benefits Team, you won't just validate that equipment works - you'll be on the ground at customer sites figuring out how to make it work better. You'll evaluate real-world performance, diagnose what's limiting it, and develop the mechanical, controls, and software changes needed to unlock peak capability. Then you'll prove it with data.

This role demands someone who thrives on autonomy. You'll operate with significant independence at customer sites during startup, commissioning, and sustained optimization - often for extended periods. There's no script for what you'll encounter. You'll need sharp critical thinking, a physics-grounded understanding of how things move and break, and enough programming fluency to collaborate shoulder-to-shoulder with controls engineers on real solutions. You'll own the vision, the strategy, and the results.

But you won't be on an island. You'll work closely with talented mechanical and controls engineers, translating what you learn in the field into design improvements that shape the next generation of deployments. What you discover on site feeds directly back into the organization - your work doesn't just fix one system, it makes every future system better.

This is a customer-facing role focused on our Activated Roller Belt (ARB™) Equipment platform. You'll communicate directly with customers about what changes are needed and why, maintaining alignment on how systems are intended to operate. That means you need to be as clear and professional in a conference room as you are resourceful on a plant floor.

If you're the kind of engineer who gets restless when things aren't optimized, who'd rather be solving hard problems on site than watching from a desk, and who finds genuine satisfaction in making complex systems run the way they should - we want to talk to you.

This position is not eligible for work authorization or sponsorship.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements

Responsibilities:

Define success from the start by understanding each pilot system's purpose-identifying what we aim to prove, optimize, or unlock-and ensuring testing efforts directly support meaningful product outcomes.

Design and lead dynamic test strategies that guide products from early concept through commercial release, using your engineering expertise to validate performance, mitigate risk, and accelerate innovation.

Build and execute robust test plans, translating complex technical results into clear, actionable insights that resonate across engineering, product, and commercial teams.

Turn data into design improvements by interpreting test results, equipment behavior, and real-time observations-driving immediate system optimizations and shaping next-generation conveyance solutions.

Own and solve complex technical challenges, bringing structure, curiosity, and rigor to ambiguous problems while delivering clear conclusions and forward-looking recommendations.

Grow into a subject matter expert, deepening your knowledge of conveyance technologies to influence product direction, inspire innovation, and elevate overall system performance.

Advance modular plastic belting solutions through hands-on, application-driven testing that demonstrates value, uncovers new use cases, and strengthens product differentiation.

Collaborate on innovative design solutions, providing 2D/3D modeling support for custom test equipment, prototypes, and system enhancements that push product capabilities forward.

Enhance testing capabilities by developing jigs, fixtures, software tools, and streamlined processes that improve efficiency, repeatability, and scalability.

Partner with cross-functional teams to refine test plans, share insights, and continuously improve testing methodologies and outcomes.

Build a knowledge foundation by organizing and maintaining a comprehensive database of test results, enabling data-driven decisions and long-term product evolution.

Integrate emerging AI capabilities into the testing environment to automate workflows, unlock deeper insights, and improve overall engineering productivity.

Requirements:
• BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar field.
• 3+ years of experience in Engineering role.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand equipment function, diagnose performance limitations, and identify improvement opportunities.
• Understanding of mechanical systems and willingness to work with hand tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to approach issues from both mechanical and controls perspectives.
• Comfort working in an ambiguous development environment where test objectives, equipment concepts, and performance targets may evolve over time.
• Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with mechanical, controls, and development teams to influence equipment design and performance outcomes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Positive, proactive attitude with attention to detail.
• Goal-oriented team player.
• Excellent computer skills with some exposure to 3D CAD; Inventor preferred.
• Ability to lift 40 lbs.
• Travel is required up to 20-80% of the time, including weekend work when needed.
• Most travel will be proactive in nature and planned weeks in advance however, this role may be required to travel on very short notice in the event of a real time urgent issue at a customer site.
• When not on site supporting a new system, this position will work out of our Hanover, MD facility, in person 5 days a week.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in the conveyor, industrial automation, or product handling industry
• Experience using AI-assisted tools to reduce manual, repetitive work, particularly in test video review, data extraction, or data analysis
• Experience in a test engineering role
• Experience with Python
