Full Job Description
The Mechanical Project Engineer is responsible for the complete lifecycle of mechanical systems including estimating, design, fabrication, testing, and commissioning. These mechanical systems range in complexity from legacy pneumatic and hydraulic controls to fully integrated, skid-based packaged systems.
This position is for VersaTech's Houston, TX office (On-site).
This position will report to the Manager of Projects and Engineering. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Coordinate and report across upper management, drafting, procurement, fabrication, and sales department
• Estimating and submitting proposals outlining scope of work, delivery, cost, commercial and technical clarifications
• Project execution involving design, component selection and procurement, inspection, fabrication coordination, and testing
• Ensure design compliance with industry and regulatory standards
• Calculations and design validation for mechanical systems including pump sizing, line sizing, accumulator sizing, relief valve sizing, and any other components within the packaged system
• Collaborate with Programming and Electrical engineers on fully integrated packaged systems
• Provide design parameters to the drafting/design department and manage the completion of design
• Manage fabrication activities in accordance with VersaTech's quality program and project schedule requirements
• Actively support VersaTech's commitment to a safe work environment by ensuring compliance with all safety policies and procedures
• Interface with customers by providing project progress reports, participating in technical discussions, and managing RFIs and change orders; maintain clear and open communication to meet or exceed customer expectations
• Coordinate with outside vendors, engineering firms, etc., should the need arise
• Conduct functional testing of completed systems to ensure proper operation, system integrity, and compliance with customer requirements
• Travel to remote sites both domestically and internationally for commissioning, start-up, repair and troubleshooting activities
• Oversee project budget and financial activities, including forecasting, planning, billing, and payment processing
• Develop, control, and maintain project documentation, including fabrication drawings, test procedures, datasheets, clarification and exception logs, and fabrication quality documents
• Other tasks as defined by the Manager of Projects and Engineering
