Full Job Description
As our Mechanical Engineer- you will report to the Manager-Engineering Poultry. The R&D department for the DSI brand at JBT Marel designs, develops, and tests cutting edge industrial equipment for the food industry. We bring together machine vision, mechatronic systems, industrial robotics, and structural weldments to help feed the world. The machinery we design includes waterjet cutters, high speed blade cutters, and robotic harvesting systems. Our engineers develop and test new equipment in a hands-on, dynamic environment. This involves researching the latest developments in machine tool technology, designing complex models in CAD, FEA analysis, creating engineering drawings for fabrication and manufacturing, testing prototype components, visiting food plants to document machine performance, and troubleshooting field problems. On a given day, you may: - Help develop the next generation of cutting and product handling equipment - Design, source, fabricate and test component level improvements - Integrate tested components and subassemblies into prototype machine design - Analysis of new designs using FEA, MathCAD, and accelerated testing in house and in the field - Perform risk analysis - Complete drawing packages and ECN's to integrate new designs into MRP system - Support the existing fleet of portioners, harvesting, and cutting machines - Respond to urgent requests from customers, service techs, and applications engineers - Refine recommended spare parts list and help set initial inventory amount - Revise or replace components or subassemblies in need of improvement - Work with manufacturing on ongoing and new builds - Support prototype builds of subassemblies and full machines, frequently in person - Support Manufacturing Engineers and assemblers in person and remotely - Work with Sourcing, RCI, and QA to ensure best practices for pricing, delivery, and quality - Visit and understand customers and issues - Fix challenging and complex issues with machine performance - Identify potential upgrade kits or component improvements that improve customer satisfaction and create incremental revenue for JBT Marel. Design and document kits. Requirements for the role - Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent - Proficiency in CAD. Autodesk Inventor preferred, but SolidWorks, ProE or similar acceptable - Strong organizational, negotiating, planning and influencing skills, verbal and written - Project Management experiece - Well-structured and organized problem solving/root cause analysis skills - Ability to travel as needed - You must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future.
