Full Job Description
This position is for a critical member of our Advanced Surgical division's R&D team, based in Denver, CO. The engineer will have immediate opportunities to contribute to CONMED's active product portfolio with a focus on minimally invasive surgical technologies designed to deliver real benefits to surgeons, hospitals and their patients. This position will be dedicated to leading and overseeing a design history file remediation across Advanced Surgical's portfolio.

Advanced Surgical products include:
  • Advanced insufflation systems
  • Advanced energy systems
  • Advanced smoke management systems
  • Laparoscopic surgical instruments


Responsibilities:
  • Assist in sustaining high-quality, reliable disposable and/or capital medical products for use in surgical procedures, ensuring we maintain consistent product continuity for our customers.
  • Engage in all phases of design, development, component procurement, assembly, verification, validation, and manufacturing, ensuring compliance with medical device standards and regulations.
  • Conduct investigations to identify root causes of product issues in order to suggest and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Complete conceptual and detailed designs, CAD modeling, prototyping, and troubleshooting to support the development and refinement of products.
  • Contribute to the development of comprehensive test protocols, detailed reports, and compelling presentations, all related to design activities.
  • Contribute to the creation of project schedules, securing cross-functional buy-in from the project team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional project teams to deliver updated design history files, ensuring seamless integration and successful outcomes.
  • Contribute to procedural updates and best practices.
  • Guarantee that all designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and quality control procedures.
  • Conduct verification and validation testing.
  • Build strong cross functional working relationships internally.

Required Qualifications:
  • 3-5+ years engineering work experience required
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or highly related field) required


Other Attributes:
  • Basic skills in 3-D CAD software
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of design controls for medical devices


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Exposure to Solid Works and statistical software such as Minitab
  • Intermediate knowledge of statistics
  • Basic understanding of GD&T and creating engineering drawings
  • Intermediate knowledge in root cause investigations and problem solving
  • Experience working in a regulated environment, such as FDA 21 CFR 820 or similar
  • Intermediate knowledge of medical device regulations


This position is not eligible for employer based sponsorship.

Disclosure as required by applicable law, the annual salary range for this position is $70,000 - $109,000. The actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, education and skill level. The salary range is CONMED's good faith belief at the time of this posting.
