Full Job Description
Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Mechanical Engineer opportunity to support the Savannah River Site.

Work Location: Aiken, SC

Mechanical Engineer-

Duties:

  • Support facility engineering as field/system engineer for operations, maintenance, and test of assigned systems.
  • Design, upgrade, and evaluate facility systems and components, including review and approval of design changes.
  • Ensure system operations remained within safety basis, operating limits, and regulatory requirements in a nuclear facility.
  • Perform hazard analyses, engineering evaluations, and technical calculations to assess system performance and safety.
  • Review plant configuration changes to determine impacts on design, safety basis, and operational procedures.
  • Develop engineering reports, system health assessments, root cause analyses, and design studies to support decision-making.
  • Resolve engineering-related corrective actions and deficiencies through formal tracking systems.
  • Maintain alignment of drawings, procedures, and technical documents with system design, configuration, and safety basis.
  • Conduct field walk-downs and inspections to verify system condition and compliance.


Education:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.


Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) to twenty (20) years' experience related to engineering discipline (mechanical) and/or field/system engineering.
  • Perform walk-downs of operating facilities and review current designs against any proposed facility modifications.
  • Working knowledge of National Codes and Standards such as International Building Code (IBC), American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) (ASD and LRFD), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), ACI, AWS, NFPA, and AWWA.
  • Nuclear, chemical or wastewater facility experience.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of NQA-1 requirements applicable to specifications and design.
  • Previous SRS or another DOE site experience.
  • Working knowledge of 10 CFR 830


Other Job Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
