Leads the development and execution of the data and analytics strategy for Capital Markets within the context of the overall enterprise data and analytics strategy in order to achieve the business strategy and priorities set by the Capital Markets Head. Leads the prioritization and deployment of Capital Markets specific analytics capabilities in accordance with the BMO enterprise data & analytics strategy. Accelerates adoption of and monetizes enterprise data & analytics capabilities to drive BMO’s growth agenda within Capital Markets through employee engagement, customer experience, risk management, revenue growth and/or cost productivity.
- Gathers, integrates and coordinates across Capital Markets to ensure all data and analytics requirements are met and to be the single point of integration into the enterprise data and analytics function. The role engages across Capital Markets business leaders to ensure buy-in and participation in the deployment of leading practices
- Progresses the adoption of Capital Markets’ advanced analytics capabilities, business intelligence and data platforms to drive customer experience and business performance, including innovative applications of data and analytics capabilities to enhance customer interactions, productivity, customer acquisition/retention, pricing, process performance, regulatory and management reporting and model performance with the objective of helping BMO create sustainable competitive differentiation
- Maintains a level of knowledge with the application of data and analytics capabilities in the financial services sectors relevant to Capital Markets and is an advocate of the adoption of data and analytics capabilities aligned to the objectives of Capital Markets
- Ensures data and analytics capabilities are embedded in current and future BMO enterprise initiatives deployed in the assigned group/functions such as BMO’s customer journeys, digitization and process transformation initiatives
- As a dual report to the Enterprise CDAO, leverages leading data and analytics capability standards and ensures their deployment and monetization across Capital Markets
- Provides input to the enterprise CDO on the technology aggregation and consumption capabilities. The role is accountable to implement data platform standards, recommend exceptions to target state architecture with the goal of improving customer experience, capturing revenue growth and cost efficiency benefits.
- Implements the enterprise data governance operating model, processes, and tools, to capture transactional and\or derived data, monitor, and prioritize/remediate data quality, and uphold regulatory commitments.
- Ensures the integrity, security and confidentiality of employee, consumer and bank information. This begins with adherence to all aspects of the bank’s code of business conduct and ethics, but also includes diligent observance of regulatory rules, bank standards and policies, and industry standards.
- Within the mandate of this role, promotes and supports the Bank’s risk culture including ensuring employees understand their accountabilities for risk-taking activities, promoting an environment of open communication and effective challenge, and establishing the “tone from the top” through leading by example.

Qualifications:
- Possess an advanced University degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Management or related field
- 8 - 10 years of enterprise business leadership experience, driving operations, delivery efforts, or change programs at scale within the data & analytics, business intelligence, master data management or other relevant domains
- Prior leadership of a data & analytics business function, and accountability for driving business benefits and bottom-line growth through analytics.
- Prior leadership experience, balancing the needs of an organization that is looking to grow and scale globally without losing local accountability and excellence.
- Prior execution experience with implementing and/or supporting the deployment of analytics capabilities, especially in environments transitioning from a traditional approach to data and analytics to a modern data processing and data sciences platform, including open source, robotics, machine learning, cloud and big data capabilities
- Deep knowledge of the Financial Services ecosystem, including retail banking, lending, capital markets, wealth management and payments, emerging trends and disruptor.
- Blends deep business/functional knowledge, technical expertise and leadership capabilities to influence Capital Markets strategies, priorities and investments based on data & analytics insights
Please note the base salary for this role is $350,000 USD

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
