Materials/Metallurgical Engineer
This position requires a B.S. degree in metallurgy or materials engineering; an M.S. degree in materials or metallurgy would be a plus. In the ideal case, 5 or more years of experience related to material science is desired, with specific experience in destructive laboratory testing, metallography, and failure analysis for power/industrial clients a strong plus. Candidates should either have a PE license or have an identified path toward PE licensure. Although this is a laboratory-based position, the job may also include occasional
materials-related technical support on field projects that SI conducts in power generation facilities and various other industrial environments.
General duties for this position are as follows:
1. Review client needs related to failed or damaged metal components (tubing, pipes, pump and valve components, turbine components, mechanical devices, and various other industrial equipment components)
2. Develop proposals for providing condition assessment or failure analysis services
3. Manage metallurgical laboratory projects through coordination of work scopes, interacting with lab technicians, reviewing and interpreting results, and preparing reports to provide findings and recommendations
4. Provide materials support to assist SI's experienced teams of engineering staff that
- Provide consulting services to nuclear, fossil, and renewable energy clients
- Manage root cause analysis investigations
- Provide asset management and condition assessment services

The expected salary range for this role is $88,600 - $100,000 in Austin, TX. Exact pay will be commensurate with location, experience, and qualifications.
