Role Overview
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will design and implement manufacturing strategies for complex missile assemblies. You will solve technical and organizational challenges, influence product design for manufacturability, and support the transition of new or revised designs into production. This role directly impacts the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality of production while contributing to Lockheed Martin's mission in space innovation and national security.
Key Duties / Responsibilities
• Develop and implement efficient manufacturing processes, layouts, and procedures for assemblies, equipment installation, machining, painting, and material handling.
• Interpret drawings and model-based designs, translating them into actionable manufacturing steps using MES and CAD tools.
• Conduct manufacturing readiness assessments.
• Create specifications and procedures for tools, fixtures, and manufacturing aides, adapting equipment for production conditions.
• Ensure new designs are producible, cost-effective, and meet design-for-excellence goals.
• Identify production risks and drive cost reduction initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve technical and organizational challenges.
• Lead team members in implementing engineering changes, process improvements, and team initiatives.
• Provide on-floor production support, troubleshoot issues to root causes, and implement solutions.
• Introduce and optimize advanced manufacturing technologies and automation.
• Communicate directly with government customers and provide design producibility input.
• Support suppliers and internal teams in manufacturing processes.
• Develop inspection tools, incorporate quality points into Manufacturing Work Instructions, and ensure processes meet regulatory and customer requirements.
• Monitor equipment performance to optimize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
• Apply statistical process control and data analytics to improve processes.

Basic Qualifications
Basic Qualifications :
Experienced Manufacturing Engineer with knowledge of industry standards and best practices of manufacturing processes, procedures, process improvement, and strategic planning.
Professional experience with product manufacturability with ability to drive internal initiatives such as process improvements, lean, and manufacturing technology enhancements.
Strong communication and presentation skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
Experience with design and fabrication for tooling, fixtures and manufacturing aides.
Proficient working in 3D modelling software (CATIA, Creo, SolidWorks, Nx), Product Lifecycle Manager (PLM) programs (e.g. 3DX, Teamcenter, PDM, etc.), and MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) programs (Apriso, iBASEt, SAP, etc.).
Desired skills
Ability to mentor and teach individuals or small groups.
Excellent Team facilitation skills and effective use of Lean Six-Sigma tools.
Experience in representing Operations teams for a wide range of difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
Lean Six-Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification.
Knowledge of Digital Transformation and Automation Processes in a Manufacturing Assembly Environment.
Understanding and wide application of Manufacturing Processes (Assembly, Machining, Riveting, Painting, etc.).
First Unit Flow planning & execution.
Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) knowledge/experience.
Experience with NC programming using MasterCAM or similar software.
Knowledge of how to set up and implement new machining centers in production.
Experience using CREO, DFMPro, SAP, and Apriso.
Experience transitioning aerospace products from development into production.

Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
National Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $81,600 - $143,865. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
Premium Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $93,800 - $162,610. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
