Full Job Description
Job Description
Product Security Engineering designs, builds, and operates enterprise security controls as software products that integrate directly into cloud platforms, the software development lifecycle, and core enterprise services. The organization applies modern software and cloud engineering practices to deliver scalable, reliable, and developer-friendly security capabilities that enable secure-by-default behaviors across the enterprise.

The Managing Engineer, Cloud Security Engineering is a hands-on engineering leader responsible for building and operating cloud security capabilities in production. This role combines people leadership, technical direction, and delivery ownership, including developing engineers, guiding architecture and design decisions, and ensuring the team delivers reliable, scalable, and effective security solutions. The Managing Engineer partners with digital product managers, cloud platform teams, application engineers, and security stakeholders to align priorities and integrate preventative, detective, and responsive controls into cloud platforms and developer workflows.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop an engineering team delivering cloud security controls as software products, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and career development.
  • Set technical direction and drive high-quality execution across the design, implementation, deployment, and production support of cloud security capabilities.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership through architecture and design reviews, technical decision-making, code reviews, and support for critical implementation work.
  • Own the reliability, performance, effectiveness, and continuous improvement of the team's products in production.
  • Partner with Digital Product Managers, platform teams, and engineering stakeholders to align roadmaps, priorities, dependencies, and delivery plans.
  • Build a strong engineering culture centered on modern delivery practices (test-driven development, pair programming), fast feedback, technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Translate complex cloud security needs into scalable engineering solutions, reusable patterns, and automated capabilities.
  • Lead effective agile execution while keeping the team focused on delivery outcomes rather than process or ceremony.

Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of professional software, cloud, platform, or security engineering experience, including ownership of production systems delivering measurable reliability, performance, or security outcomes.
  • 2+ years of experience leading and developing engineers through people leadership and hands-on technical guidance, including coaching, architecture reviews, design decisions, and code reviews.
  • Deep experience securing cloud environments across AWS, Azure, and GCP, including cloud-native services, architectures, and security controls.
  • Strong engineering proficiency with Python, Bash, Terraform, and cloud-native automation tools, with the ability to guide solution design, review code and infrastructure as code, and support the development of cloud security products.
  • Ability to translate security requirements and risks into scalable engineering solutions, reusable patterns, and automated controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex engineering initiatives, manage cross-team dependencies, and deliver measurable outcomes.

Desirable Skills
  • Designing or operating security controls embedded into CI/CD pipelines, developer workflows, or shared cloud platform services.
  • Familiarity with containerized environments, including Kubernetes and Docker, and the security considerations associated with them.
  • Proven ability to influence technical decisions and drive adoption of secure patterns, standards, and reusable capabilities across product areas.
  • Demonstrated success mentoring senior engineers and developing emerging technical leaders to strengthen long-term team capability.
  • Understanding of security and operational measures, such as control adoption, reliability, and risk reduction, used to evaluate engineering outcomes and guide priorities.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This role has supervisory responsibilities and serves as the first level manager for a team of engineers.
