Managing Consultant, Sustainability Strategy and Transformation to join our growing team in
Canada. In this high-impact role, you will help mining organizations navigate uncertainty, integrate sustainability into strategic and investment decisions, manage risk, strengthen stakeholder trust, and unlock long-term value across the mining lifecycle. Working alongside executive leaders, investors, and multidisciplinary specialists, you will shape the future of responsible mining while delivering tangible business outcomes that create lasting value.

- Influence investment decisions, project development strategies, and business transformation initiatives that shape the future of responsible mining.
- Mentor and inspire multidisciplinary teams while fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
What You'll BringRequired- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Business, Economics, Sustainability, Finance, or a related discipline; or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of experience in management consulting, mining and metals, sustainability advisory, corporate strategy, project development, transactions, or a related field.
- Experience delivering strategy, transformation, transaction, or risk advisory engagements within the mining and metals, and other industrial sectors.
- Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions, project financing, due diligence, corporate development, integration planning, or investment decisions.
- Experience helping organizations translate sustainability commitments into actionable business strategies, transformation programs, and measurable performance outcomes.
- Experience working with executive leadership teams to integrate sustainability, risk management, and value creation objectives into strategic decision-making.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex engagements, stakeholders, and project delivery.
- Strong client relationship management, business development, and proposal development experience.
- Strong understanding of ESG and sustainability issues facing the mining industry, including climate change, biodiversity, water stewardship, social performance, Indigenous engagement, human rights, mine closure, and responsible sourcing.
- Proven ability to identify, assess, and manage sustainability, regulatory, operational, and stakeholder-related risks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize technical, commercial, environmental, and social information into clear business recommendations.
- Excellent written, presentation, and facilitation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with executives, boards, investors, regulators, communities, and project teams.
- Familiarity with leading sustainability frameworks, ESG due diligence practices, and mining industry regulatory and permitting requirements.
- This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
Preferred- Master's degree in Mining Engineering, Business, Economics, Sustainability, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Experience within a leading consulting firm, mining company, investment organization, project developer, or advisory practice focused on sustainability, strategy, risk, or transactions.
- Familiarity with sustainability reporting and voluntary frameworks, including ICMM Mining Principles, GRI, ISSB, TCFD, TNFD, IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, and leading ESG due diligence practices.
- Experience supporting private equity, infrastructure, pension, streaming, or royalty investors with sustainability, technical, or transaction advisory services.
- Understanding of strategic challenges facing the mining sector, including critical minerals, energy transition, decarbonization, nature-positive mining, water security, tailings governance, and changing stakeholder expectations.
- Knowledge of mining industry regulatory frameworks, permitting processes, environmental assessment requirements, and emerging sustainability expectations across Canada and key mining jurisdictions.
- Understanding of key mining sector trends, including critical minerals, energy transition, decarbonization, nature-positive mining, water security, and tailings governance.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and successfully deliver medium to large, complex, and multidisciplinary projects, programs, deliverables, and workstreams.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities, prepare effective technical proposals, and actively contribute to business development efforts in partnership with ERM Partners.
- Build and strengthen client relationships that generate repeat business and expand ERM's presence in the sustainability advisory market.
- Execute projects that connect sustainability to value creation, business transformation, risk management, and operational performance.
- Collaborate effectively with ERM technical teams, partners, subcontractors, and subject matter experts to deliver integrated solutions.
- Support internal initiatives that enhance the effectiveness and growth of the Mining and Sustainability Strategy and Transformation team.
- Communicate effectively with clients, ERM employees, vendors, and external stakeholders.
- Lead, manage, mentor, inspire, hire, and retain high-performing team members.
- Understand and apply ERM practices, policies, and business processes within project and client engagements.
- Collaborate across regions and global practice communities to deliver the best outcomes for clients.
- Establish and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional project delivery and regular face-to-face engagement.
For the
Managing Consultant, Sustainability Strategy and Transformation position, the anticipated annual base pay is
$95,000-$118,000 (CAD). Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay subject to the sole discretion of ERM and its policies and procedures(casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
