Job Description

The Manager, U.S. Colleague Impact will sit within the Corporate Sustainability team in Corporate Affairs & Communications and support the strategy and execution of the American Express colleague engagement programs, including giving and volunteering.

This role will primarily lead U.S colleague volunteering initiatives, with a particular focus on New York, while supporting broader global priorities as needed. The Manager will develop and execute community-based programs that advance Community Impact priorities, strengthen nonprofit partnerships, and create meaningful opportunities for colleagues to give back.

A successful candidate will be an energetic, highly organized relationship builder who can transition between executing high-impact colleague events, managing nonprofit partners and budgets, and navigating governance, risk and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead New York colleague volunteering, executing a strategy to positively impact the New York Community, support local nonprofits, and lead a team of colleague champions to host successful volunteer events.
  • Manage the relationship with current community and nonprofit partners and identify other external partners or vendors to execute the Corporate Sustainability strategies across the United States.
  • Facilitate grants and manage a United States budget strategically for volunteering efforts.
  • Drive the strategy and support the United States volunteering champions in hosting successful events.
  • Support efforts across global markets on an ad-hoc basis, as appropriate.
  • Support communication efforts across United States markets both internally and externally when needed.


Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree (required)
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience in either corporate giving, corporate sustainability, event planning, or project management.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver against deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across levels and functions.
  • Demonstrated experience managing external partners and/or vendors; nonprofit partnership experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Benevity or similar employee engagement platforms is a plus.
  • Passion for community impact, volunteering, and creating meaningful colleague experiences.
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and cross functionally in a detail-oriented environment.

Location

This role is based in New York City and will require local travel within Manhattan and the surrounding area to support volunteer events and partner engagements.

Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
