Position Overview  

 

We’re searching for a Manager, Technical Accounting, to join our Finance and Accounting team in hybrid working environment out of our Chicago, IL office.  To keep us headed in the right direction, we’re looking for people who understand winning is a team sport, who value and seek to learn from our team’s diverse experiences and backgrounds, who welcome a challenge and take risks in the pursuit of creating better outcomes for our customers, and who can, at any given time, step back to laugh and have some fun.      

  

What You’ll Do

 

  • Research, interpret, and document accounting positions under US GAAP for complex transactions including:
    • Revenue recognition (ASC 606)
    • Business combinations (ASC 805)
    • Stock‑based compensation (ASC 718)
    • Leases (ASC 842)
    • Debt and equity instruments
  • Draft, maintain, and update formal accounting policies, position papers, and whitepapers.
  • Monitor and assess the impact of new accounting standards and regulatory guidance; lead implementation efforts as required.
  • Partner with Accounting, FP&A, Legal, Tax, Corporate Development HR, and teams to assess accounting implications of complex transactions.
  • Support due diligence and purchase accounting activities for acquisitions.
  • Advise business leaders on accounting considerations during strategic decision making.
  • Act as a key technical accounting liaison for external auditors on complex or judgmental matters.
  • Support preparation and review of technical disclosures for financial statements.
  • Assist in ensuring clean audit outcomes by proactively resolving accounting issues.
  • Support , IPO readiness, and internal control documentation related to complex accounting areas.
  • Identify opportunities to standardize, automate, and scale accounting processes.
  • Provide guidance and review for technical judgments made by operational accounting teams.
  • Coach and mentor accounting team members on technical topics.
  • Serve as a trusted internal expert and escalation point for complex accounting questions.

Your experience may include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
  • CPA (required)
  • 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Prior experience in public accounting (Big 4 or national firm) strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting public companies, IPOs, or SOX environments preferred

You may have other skills or credentials, including:

  • Strong command of US GAAP and technical accounting research
  • Experience preparing accounting memoranda and position papers
  • Familiarity with SEC reporting support is a strongly preferred
  • ERP experience (e.g., NetSuite, Salesforce, UKG)

Our targeted starting base salary in the United States for this position ranges from $110 - $125K USD. To determine a new team member’s starting pay, we consider a variety of factors, including someone’s depth, breadth, and variety of experience, skills, and responsibilities. Depending on the role, team members may also be eligible to participate in additional compensation plans such as bonus and commission.
