Role Summary:

Job Description Summary
As a Manager, Financial Reporting, you will be responsible for helping to coordinate the financial reporting function for CPP Investments and the risk-based review of financial reporting controls. You will enhance our current "best in class" reporting to contribute to CPP Investments' reputation of integrity through transparent disclosure of financial information to management, Board of Directors, and our external stakeholders.

Accountabilities & Qualifications:
Core Accountabilities
  • Independently lead pieces of work during the completion of quarterly and annual financial statements, including the financial statement notes, in accordance with IFRS and U.S. GAAP.
  • Coordinate with the external auditors in the legal entity annual audit(s), including coordinating timelines and key deliverables, and identifying and resolving financial statement issues.
  • Partner with various departments that impact or contribute to the timely and accurate production of financial statements, and to the accuracy and timeliness of financial information contained in the general ledger.
  • Act as a second line of defense and review the financial reporting processes and controls that are relevant to key financial reporting and disclosure controls.
  • Lead continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the financial reporting process.
  • Oversee the monthly general ledger close process, including working with upstream and downstream stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Review and analyze new investment products and implement appropriate changes to the financial statement disclosure and presentation.
  • Oversee and manage the tracking and submission of periodic compliance deliverables for CPPIB's legal entities, including Canadian and U.S. surveys.
  • Collaborate with the Accounting Policy team and other stakeholders across the organization.
  • Develop talent by coaching, training, and engaging staff through assignments that align with their career plans and the needs of the team.
Core Qualifications (Education and Experience)
  • Undergraduate degree or college diploma in a related field (e.g., Finance, Accounting, Business).
  • 6+ years of experience in financial reporting within the investment management, pension, investment fund, or financial services industry.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Proven experience with corporate, financial, and regulatory filing requirements across various jurisdictions.
  • Excellent understanding of IFRS and internal controls over financial reporting; knowledge of U.S. GAAP is considered an asset.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with GenAI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot) and automation is considered an asset.
