Overview

We are seeking a full-time Manager IT at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for leading daily IT & Security activities to ensure that the business is provided with timely, high-quality, reliable, and accurate IT & Security systems and functions critical to supporting Garmin's business.

Essential Functions
  • Provide operational leadership for day-to-day activities and provide strategic direction
  • Actively collaborate with Global IT & Security leaders to ensure alignment of associates and initiatives to Garmin's strategic initiatives as prioritized through defined governance processes and roadmaps
  • Actively collaborate with Global IT & Security leaders to ensure delivery of critical IT & Security applications and technologies
  • Communicate and coordinate effectively to stakeholders across departments, ensuring business, departmental and associate requirements are met
  • Communicate priorities to IT & Security - including key business deliverables and expected results
  • Research and recommend new technologies, processes, and solutions to meet business needs and continually improve the productivity and effectiveness of the team
  • Plan and schedule work, including the allocation of resources
  • Lead tactical and strategic planning to best leverage the use of the IT & Security Business Analytics, Asset Management, and the IT & Security Application Portfolio for day-to-day business and decision support functions
  • Coordinate and syndicate appropriate processes, priorities, and projects across Global IT & Security
  • Participate as needed in regular or special meetings of the IT & Security team to address the IT & Security strategies, their integration, their progress and/or issues needing escalation or problem-solving
  • Exhibit a customer/supplier philosophy that emphasizes both internal and external relationships
  • Leverage sound project management methodologies to enable project delivery
  • Ensure Security best practices are incorporated into deployed applications and systems
  • Manage the acquisition, deployment and tracking of purchased computer software assets per Garmin's policies and procedures
  • Support team members, peers, and other Garmin associates by actively seeking feedback, building networks, sharing successes, tools and knowledge
  • Build and maintain high performing team(s) by recruiting, developing, and retaining outstanding talent.
  • Promote team member engagement and effectiveness by providing constructive feedback and promoting personal development, including writing and conducting annual performance appraisals.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or related field AND a minimum of 5 years of relevant IT Technology experience AND 3 years previous IT management experience
  • Knowledge of storage system technology for block, file, and object storage
  • Knowledge of SAN, NAS, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, and related storage networking technologies
  • Knowledge of Data Recovery related technologies
  • Proven experience in IT strategic planning and development, project management, and policy development in a dynamic, fast paced environment
  • Exposure to systems design and development, beginning from business requirements analysis through day-to-day management
  • Demonstrated proficient knowledge of the following: Network, operating systems, and IT architecture, including cloud and virtual environments; IT Security principles; IT business processes, management, budgeting, and business office operations; Applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT; Methods and practices for the implementation, maintenance, and support of information systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform analysis, design configuration, and support of complex IT systems
  • Proven track record of IT & Security Incident Management including the coordination and management of production impacting incidents, problem management and design/deployment of irreversible corrective actions
  • Must be detail-oriented, have the ability to proactively meet required timelines, and the ability to prioritize/multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and changing environment
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven ability to lead others through complex problem solving AND to personally engage in and drive solution design

Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with current technology platforms such as Windows, Linux and cloud services
  • Understanding of ITIL, Quality Standards, and best practices
  • Management experience in Supply Chain industry, Cloud and/or web application development environments
  • Experience supporting enterprise business applications including ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), Warehouse Management, Manufacturing Execution systems
  • Experience with Agile Scrum Methodology
