Purpose of Position

As a Manager, Software Engineering, you will contribute to the direction of technology that impacts NetJets ability to create an exceptional owner experience one travel at a time. Expect to work on complex challenges in large-scale computing, utilizing your expertise in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming. This role requires a technical leader with hands-on software development experience in Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, .NET, or similar enterprise technologies. Your focus will include building and operating new software or data solutions in the cloud, integrating with vendor software packages, instrumentation, support, and troubleshooting. Cloud-native development experience is expected, with AWS experience preferred. The role will also own the technical roadmap for supported applications while partnering with Solution Managers and business stakeholders to advance business capability roadmaps. Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Hire, develop, mentor, and manage the performance of technical resources based on delivery outcomes and organizational goals.
  • Coach and mentor software engineering teams, maximizing the abilities of each team member to reach their fullest potential and meet individual and organizational goals.
  • Ensure the team is appropriately skilled to achieve regular delivery and support of owned applications through hiring, coaching, and upskilling.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance across application design, development, deployment, support, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Lead application development efforts using modern technologies such as Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, .NET, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Collaborate across the organization on one-team initiatives that require multiple groups to deliver.
  • Partner closely with Product Owners, Solution Managers, Architects, and business stakeholders to translate business capabilities into actionable technology roadmaps and delivery plans.
  • Own and communicate the technical roadmap for supported applications, balancing business priorities, platform modernization, technical debt reduction, security, scalability, and resiliency.
  • Create baseline assessments and maturity paths for testing and automation, including unit test coverage, test automation, pipeline automation, code scanning, and engineering quality controls.
  • Ensure proper prioritization of business value, technology hygiene, risk reduction, and long-term application sustainability.
  • Accountable for stabilization, resilience, performance, operational readiness, and technical hygiene of relevant applications.
  • Drive Agile delivery practices, including maintaining a healthy backlog, sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to support predictable and continuous delivery.
  • Influence and drive delivery of technical solutions in an Agile environment, including TDD and CI/CD, with a focus on continuous improvement, speed to market, and roadmap alignment.
  • Lead and drive engineering, architecture, and development teams to define and influence technical direction for relevant applications.
  • Lead cloud adoption, modernization, and engineering practices, with preference for AWS and cloud-native development patterns.
  • Support mission-critical 24x7 applications and provide leadership during production incidents, including coordinating cross-functional response efforts, driving root cause analysis, supporting stakeholder communication, and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Establish and promote operational excellence practices, including monitoring, alerting, incident management, disaster recovery readiness, service reliability, and continuous improvement to reduce outages and incidents.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including adherence to delivery commitments, support obligations, quality expectations, and internal standards.
