The RoleThe Manager, Security Services contributes to the overall success of Security Services, Asset Servicing & Tax Operations within Global Wholesale Operations by leading the North American Settlements function responsible for the timely, accurate, and controlled settlement of Canadian and U.S. securities transactions, including equities, fixed income, and repo products.

The role is accountable for operational excellence, people leadership, risk management, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement. The Manager ensures service delivery meets client commitments while maintaining a strong control environment and driving process standardization, automation, and scalability across the settlements operating model.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Lead the end-to-end settlement lifecycle across pre-settlement, settlement, and post-settlement activities for Canadian and U.S. securities transactions.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to Assistant Managers and operational staff, fostering a high-performance, inclusive, and accountable team culture.
  • Ensure timely and accurate settlement processing, inventory management, funding readiness, reconciliations, exception management, and resolution of aged breaks.
  • Maintain a strong risk and control environment by ensuring procedures, controls, governance routines, and evidence requirements remain current, effective, and audit-ready.
  • Monitor operational performance through established management reporting, including settlement quality, service levels, exception volumes, straight-through processing (STP), capacity utilization, and control effectiveness.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for material settlement, liquidity, client, operational, and system-related incidents, ensuring timely resolution, root cause identification, and sustainable remediation.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships across business lines, Technology, Compliance, Risk, Finance, custodians, depositories, and external service providers to deliver service excellence and achieve business objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on process simplification, standardization, automation, increased STP, and scalable operational solutions.
  • Lead operational readiness for business growth, regulatory change, market infrastructure developments, and technology implementations, including testing, implementation, stabilization, and post-implementation support.
  • Support the evolution of a centralized and scalable operating model by advancing strategic initiatives that enhance consistency, efficiency, and service delivery across North American markets.
  • Translate strategic priorities into measurable operating plans, service objectives, and team deliverables while providing clear reporting on performance, risks, issues, and change initiatives.
  • Build organizational capability through workforce planning, talent development, succession management, and effective knowledge transfer across teams and locations.
  • Represent North American Settlements in governance, audit, risk, regulatory, and change management forums.
  • Champion a client-focused culture that reinforces the Bank's values, promotes operational excellence, and delivers positive client and stakeholder outcomes.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required in support of the Security Services mandate.


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience within Capital Markets Operations, Securities Settlements, Clearing, Asset Servicing, Custody Operations, or a related environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. securities settlement processes, market infrastructure, depositories, custodians, and industry best practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams within a high-volume, deadline-driven operational environment.
  • Proven experience managing settlement exceptions, reconciliations, aged breaks, operational incidents, and associated risk mitigation activities.
  • Strong understanding of operational risk, regulatory compliance, AML/ATF, sanctions, and governance requirements applicable to capital markets operations.
  • Experience managing relationships with business partners, operations teams, technology teams, control functions, custodians, depositories, and external service providers.
  • Demonstrated experience leading process improvement, automation, operational transformation, and efficiency initiatives.
  • Advanced analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with SQL, Power BI, VBA, Alteryx, or workflow automation tools is considered an asset.
