PositionSummary:

The Manager, Safety Systems & Performance serves as the Safety Department's leader for safety performance management, reporting, analytics, governance, measurement systems, compliance administration, and organizational accountability.

This position bridges Safety strategy and execution by ensuring that Safety performance is accurately measured, effectively communicated, and consistently managed through structured systems, reporting processes, performance analytics, corrective action governance, and departmental accountability mechanisms.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Safety Performance Management
  • Own governance and reporting of Safety performance metrics.
  • Maintain KPI standards, validation processes, and reporting methodologies.
  • Analyze trends and identify emerging operational risks.

Executive Reporting & Analytics
  • Lead development of monthly Safety Management Packs and executive dashboards.
  • Support Board and executive reporting requirements.
  • Produce recurring reports related to injuries, incidents, audits, training, corrective actions, and organizational performance.
  • Develop analytical tools and performance scorecards.

Initiative Governance & Accountability
  • Maintain ownership of departmental initiative tracking systems.
  • Track milestones, action items, corrective actions, and implementation commitments.
  • Monitor overdue actions and escalate unresolved issues as appropriate.

  • Support enterprise-wide continuous improvement activities.


Systems Administration & Program Support
  • Oversee Safety reporting systems, dashboards, data repositories, and SharePoint governance.
  • Maintain recordkeeping and documentation standards.
  • Coordinate data management and reporting support activities.

Compliance & Injury Management Support
  • Participate in OSHA log reviews and claims review processes.
  • Analyze injury, return-to-work, and risk trends.
  • Track recommendations from consultants, insurance carriers, audits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Support Workplace Violence Prevention and Security governance activities.

Staff Leadership
  • Direct the Safety Programs Specialist role.
  • Establish priorities, performance expectations, and workflow management processes.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting and administrative support.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of occupational safety principles, Cal/OSHA requirements, safety management system practices, and compliance documentation within multi-site operational environments.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate safety performance metrics, identify trends, validate data, assess emerging risks, and translate findings into clear recommendations.
  • Skilled in developing executive dashboards, scorecards, management reports, and recurring performance summaries related to injuries, incidents, audits, training, corrective actions, and organizational performance.
  • Ability to maintain structured tracking systems for departmental initiatives, milestones, corrective actions, implementation commitments, and overdue action escalation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, SharePoint, safety reporting systems, dashboards, data repositories, and other tools used to manage safety information and reporting workflows.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, documentation standards, reporting methodologies, and data governance practices to support compliance, accountability, and organizational decision-making.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex safety data, performance trends, and compliance information to leaders, operational teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage priorities, coordinate cross-functional work, support enterprise-wide continuous improvement activities, and follow through on time-sensitive reporting and governance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and direct staff by establishing priorities, setting performance expectations, managing workflow, and ensuring accurate and timely administrative support.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Safety systems, operational analytics, EHS reporting, compliance administration, or performance management.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Power BI, reporting tools, and dashboard development.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Experience supporting multi-site organizations preferred.

Language Skill:
  • Proficiency in English, fluency in Spanish a plus

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasional to regular onsite facility visits may require walking, standing, climbing stairs, and navigating operational areas, production floors, yards, shops, and other work environments.
  • Must be able to safely move through areas with uneven surfaces, noise, dust, traffic, equipment movement, and varying indoor and outdoor conditions.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment while conducting site observations, audits, inspections, and incident reviews.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.


Work Environment:

Typical work week is Monday through Friday. May include work weekday evenings or weekends as needed. Work will include travel throughout GreenWaste's facilities, primarily located in Northern California. Ability to work in setting where time constraints and timely communication with management is crucial.
