Full Job Description
Title: Manager, Project Finance

Summary

The Manager, Project Finance, will be a key team member responsible for all aspects of the project finance function, primarily focused on analyzing and leading various financing options for Treaty Oak's utility-scale solar and battery portfolio under development, as well as new development opportunities and strategically acquired projects.

The Manager, Project Finance, will lead and manage complex financial models and their inputs, due diligence work streams, determination of optimal tax credit monetization structures, project debt and tax monetization financing processes, equity buyouts, asset divestitures, and coordination with external financing parties to support eventual closing and funding of transactions. The position will report directly to a Senior Manager, Project Finance as part of the current team of team of 8 project finance and M&A professionals.

For this high growth opportunity role, Treaty Oak is seeking an individual with significant knowledge and experience of renewable energy project fundamentals, best-practice economic financial modeling of such projects, and debt and tax monetization financing processes along with their associated work streams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage fully structured project financial models to analyze project, partnership, and sponsor level performance of solar and storage projects, then synthesize and communicate summaries to senior management


  • Prepare marketing materials (e.g. teasers and CIMs) for internal and external stakeholders / financing processes


  • Manage financier selection, due diligence, documentation, and closing process for debt and tax credit monetization transactions, coordinating with both internal SMEs and external consultants, lawyers, and financing partners


  • Procure and scrutinize third party reports (e.g., IE, transmission, market, insurance, tax projections, and ITC cost segs) and project documentation (e.g. PPAs, EPC agreements, GIAs, equipment supply agreements, and O&M contracts) to accurately determine and integrate assumptions into financial models


  • Support the Development, Engineering, and Procurement departments on early-stage evaluation of potential financing structures and key project characteristics (e.g. DC:AC ratios, equipment selection, and tax abatements)


  • Manage, mentor, and provide guidance to junior team members


  • Communicate and build relationships effectively with both internal teams and external stakeholders


Education and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of renewable energy experience in project finance, corporate finance, or investment banking


  • Exceptional Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint skills, with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel formulas, financial model creation and best practices, and comfort understanding typical project finance macros / VBA code


  • Knowledge of renewable energy (solar and storage) project economic drivers and related tax incentives


  • Understanding of current tax credit monetization structures (e.g. partnership flips, credit transfers, hybrid, and accommodation partner / preferred equity structures) and construction-to-term debt financing, with a capability to economically model such structures


  • Comfort working in a demanding, deal-oriented team with recurring deadlines


  • Experience creating marketing materials, including teasers and CIMs, and managing external-facing data rooms


  • Outstanding critical thinking skills, inquisitiveness, and resourcefulness / ability to work independently


  • Ability to dynamically prioritize various tasks and meet assigned deadlines in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
