Full Job Description
Benevity's product research practice bridges the real-world experiences of employees, nonprofits, and impact leaders with our product vision. As the Product Research Lead, you will own and evolve this practice end to end, leading both current strategy and shaping the team that grows around it. Sitting at the intersection of insights and execution, you will field research requests across the company, integrate AI directly into research workflows, and ensure evidence shapes our product roadmap. This senior position offers a unique opportunity to build a modern, high-impact research function within a purpose-driven organization.

What you'll do:
  • Set the vision, standards, and operating rhythm for product research across Benevity
  • Run the practice as an active, relied-upon strategic partner rather than a passive request queue
  • Lead the research function today while shaping and growing the team as demand builds
  • Sit on steering committees and governance forums to bring evidence into executive decisions
  • Participate in product planning and prioritization conversations so research directly shapes the roadmap
  • Field and prioritize research requests across client success, marketing, operations, and nonprofit teams
  • Represent the diverse voices of employees, nonprofits, and impact leaders to senior leadership
  • Redesign research workflows so AI handles high-volume synthesis, tagging, and pattern-finding while human judgment guides interpretation
  • Establish guardrails for AI usage to maximize research speed while mitigating risks and verifying outputs
  • Build, maintain, and manage custom AI skills mapped to each phase of the product development lifecycle
  • Define feedback collection methodologies, question design, sampling standards, and consent protocols
  • Ensure research methodologies actively account for whose voices are represented and whose are missed
  • Own end-to-end Employee (uNPS) and Nonprofit tracking studies, including instrument design, sampling, fielding, and reporting
  • Adapt measurement approaches for non-traditional product experiences like feeds, chat, email, and QR codes
  • Report behavioral and feedback trends to senior leaders with clear recommendations on next steps
  • Build and manage structured research repositories covering core audiences so insights remain findable and actionable
  • Connect research repositories to AI workflows to allow teams to query historical evidence instantly
  • Partner with analytics teams to combine behavioral product data with qualitative insights for a complete evidence picture
  • Plan, facilitate, and report on the Discovery Lab to translate user insights directly into product decisions
  • Coach product managers and designers on research methods, question design, and building lightweight enablement materials

What you'll bring:
  • 10+ years in UX research, product research, or an equivalent discipline, including end-to-end program ownership
  • A track record of connecting qualitative and quantitative evidence directly to decisions that visibly shape product roadmaps
  • Fluency across varied methodologies, including longitudinal tracking studies, survey design, and qualitative research
  • Comfort holding your own in steering committees, senior governance forums, and executive prioritization meetings
  • Demonstrated experience designing intake and prioritization processes for research requests across multi-disciplinary teams
  • Facility with modern AI tools alongside a clear, considered approach to where they accelerate work and where they introduce risk
  • Experience coaching non-researchers to conduct sound research safely while maintaining quality standards
  • Self-directed initiative to spot opportunities, scope projects, and execute autonomously as a practice lead
  • Clear, direct communication skills across written documents, collaborative workshops, and executive presentations
