Manager, Product Delivery

Locations: Atlanta, GA (GPC HQ), Birmingham, AL (APC HQ), Gulfport, MS (Mississippi Power)

Job Summary:

The position is responsible for leading the product management of Source to Pay. This role will oversee the technology associated with the Source to Pay processes leveraging Oracle ERP, IBM Maximo, and other dependent technology. This position will help improve and streamline software development activities by leveraging the SAFe Agile Framework and an AI-native delivery model, increase the efficiency of capability delivery across multiple platforms, and ensure business capabilities are met with the appropriate use of technology. The Product Manager is expected to bring an AI-native mindset, defaulting to AI-assisted approaches to accelerate delivery, improve quality, reduce manual effort, and resolve issues faster, while applying critical human judgment to all AI-generated output. In this role, the individual will be accountable for guiding a minimum of 6-12 analysts/developers, providing direct supervision, coaching, and performance management for the Source to Pay delivery team, and identifying the resource needs from other specialized technology. The Product Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the dependent systems across an extremely complex ecosystem using On-Premise and Cloud-based Technology. This role requires a strong understanding of Agile methodologies, product management principles, and the ability to collaborate with diverse cross-functional teams. The Product Manager will play a critical role in defining and executing the product roadmap and embedding AI and automation across the Source to Pay delivery lifecycle to increase throughput and reduce technical debt, ensuring successful and timely delivery of high-quality solutions that meet the needs of our customers and business stakeholders. This role will involve direct coordination and partnership with the Business Process Manager - Source to Pay and Scrum Master - Source to Pay. The position will report to the Agile Product Delivery Director.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and facilitate software development activities across multiple technology platforms to deliver capabilities for the Source to Pay products, applying AI-assisted engineering and automation to accelerate delivery and improve quality.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to define and refine the product vision and strategy.
  • Develop and maintain a clear and well-prioritized product roadmap that incorporates AI and automation opportunities as a core lever for delivery efficiency and value.
  • Identify and analyze energy industry trends, end-user feedback, and industry best practices to influence product direction and prioritize enhancements. Work in close partnership with Business Process Manager to ensure proper prioritization to Southern Company objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and prioritize requirements, ensuring alignment with business objectives and user needs.
  • Break down complex features into user stories, leveraging AI assistants to accelerate story authoring, refine acceptance criteria, and improve backlog quality for teams.
  • Collaborate closely with specialized enabling development teams to guide and influence the creation of high-quality deliverables.
  • Facilitate sprint planning, backlog grooming, and sprint review sessions to ensure the team has a clear understanding of priorities and expectations.
  • Track and communicate project progress, using AI-assisted analysis to surface risks, dependencies, and anomalies earlier, and ensure timely delivery.
  • Engage and collaborate with business stakeholders, including executives, to gather inputs, secure buy-in, and communicate product updates.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure clear and timely communication regarding product plans, ongoing deliverables, and roadmap changes.
  • Collaborate with Regression Testing and UAT testing teams to define and execute test plans, applying AI-assisted test generation and defect analysis to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions.
  • Continuously identify, evaluate, and implement AI and automation opportunities across the Source to Pay lifecycle-including procurement, invoicing, supplier and master-data processes-to reduce manual effort, improve data quality, and increase delivery throughput.
  • Champion responsible, AI-native ways of working within the team-coaching analysts and developers on effective use of AI assistants and applying critical human review to all AI-generated logic, mappings, and recommendations before they impact controlled financial data.
  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance management for the Source to Pay delivery team, promoting self-organization and continuous improvement.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Computer Science, or a related field is required.
  • Master's degree or MBA is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in the electric or gas utility industry, including 2+ years of experience supervising software developers in Agile or Waterfall methodologies.
  • Strong business knowledge in support of the processes aligned to this product manager - Source to Pay (Accounting, Supply Chain).
  • Strong technical knowledge of the applications and modules aligned to this product manager - Oracle ERP, with knowledge of IBM Maximo Procurement.
  • Understanding of the dependencies required to support 3rd party integrations and associated technology - integrating proprietary systems within Southern Company, Oracle Integration Cloud, BizTalk, and similar.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality products or solutions.
  • Demonstrated, hands-on experience using AI assistants such as Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools to accelerate delivery activities-including drafting documentation and user stories, generating and reviewing logic, summarizing impact assessments, and identifying anomalies in data-together with prompt-engineering fundamentals to obtain accurate, context-aware results from large language models (LLMs).

  • Understanding of how Generative AI and AI/ML concepts apply to Source to Pay and Oracle ERP workflows-including anomaly detection, reconciliation, data profiling, process optimization, and configuration documentation. Familiarity with GenAI tools is expected; deeper AI/ML expertise applied to finance, and supply-chain platforms is a plus and an area Southern Company actively supports growing.

This position falls under the company's Insider Threat Program and will have access to, and control over sensitive data, systems or assets.
