Full Job Description
THE JOB

At VEG, we find a way to say YES-so you can bring that mindset to how we build the People data systems that VEG runs on. VEG is scaling a hospital network where workforce decisions directly affect our ability to help people and their pets when they need it most, and this role makes those decisions clearer, faster, and more trusted. As Manager, People Data Governance, you'll build the foundation for scalable people data across our organization. This is a foundational role with real impact: you'll create the single source of truth that enables our leaders to say YES to smarter, faster decisions. If you're energized by building from the ground up, partnering across teams, and making data work for people-not the other way around-we want you on our team.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Define and enforce people data governance standards by establishing consistent metric definitions, naming conventions, and data attributes across core HR domains, including headcount, turnover, DEI, recruiting, and internal mobility.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable data standards by maintaining the people data dictionary, data hierarchy, business definitions, and documentation that support consistent reporting across People processes.
  • Own people master data quality by leading data audits, resolving data issues, validating organizational hierarchies, evaluating system changes, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of workforce data.
  • Partner with Solutions & Insights, HRBPs, COEs, Finance, and IT/Data Engineering to define workforce data requirements, support cross-functional initiatives, and serve as the trusted advisor on people metrics and analytics.
  • Establish and administer people data governance practices for data access, security, privacy, and stewardship by partnering with HR, IT, Legal, and Information Security to protect sensitive workforce data, manage role-based access, and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Operationalize scalable people data capabilities by translating business processes into connected data models, defining reusable business logic and metric calculations, identifying automation opportunities, and enabling trusted reporting, self-service analytics, predictive insights, and responsible AI.

WHAT YOU NEED
  • 5+ years of experience in HR data management, people data governance, HRIS, or supporting people analytics with a demonstrated track record of improving data quality, establishing governance practices, and enabling data-driven decision making.
  • Knowledge of data governance, data stewardship, and data quality best practices, with an understanding of data privacy, security, and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA).
  • Experience developing data standards, business definitions, documentation, or governance processes that improve the consistency and reliability of workforce data.
  • Hands-on experience with Workday reporting and workforce data management. Advanced proficiency in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office required; experience with Tableau, Snowflake, Cornerstone, Greenhouse, ServiceNow, or similar HR technologies preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis, data validation, and issue resolution, with the ability to translate complex workforce data into clear, actionable insights for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and project management skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional partners and drive organizational adoption of data governance practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Information Systems, Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

WHO YOU ARE
  • Empathetic, instinctively taking a people-centric approach, whether supporting your colleagues or making an effort to understand different perspectives
  • Have a sense of humility; acknowledging mistakes, sharing credit with others, and lifting up your team's' accomplishments
  • Feel a strong sense of ownership over your work, taking responsibility for outcomes and staying committed to achieving long-term, impactful results
  • Curious by nature; you ask insightful questions and continuously seek out opportunities to learn and grow your skills and knowledge

HOW WE INVEST IN YOU
  • Competitive Compensation Including ($125,000 - $150,000) + bonus + benefits.
  • Comprehensive health and wellness benefits that start on day one, and access to free therapy or counseling
  • Paid parental leave, up to 12 weeks at 100% of regular salary, and offering inclusive fertility and family-building care for all types of families
  • Unlimited PTO to use for vacation or sick days-however you need it!
  • Generous employee referral program, so our awesome people can bring in more awesome people.
  • And the little (big) things, like casual office attire, ability to bring your fur baby to work, cool VEG swag, food in the fridge for when you're hungry and free lunches twice a week!!
  • Company laptop and a monthly cell phone reimbursement
