What You Will Do

In this role, you will ensure work is executed safely and in full compliance with LANL policies, providing oversight to confirm Integrated Work Documents (IWDs) are followed or pausing work when required. You will coordinate construction shift execution by resolving resource conflicts, prioritizing work activities, and deconflicting teams operating in the same rooms or areas to maintain steady progress. You will enforce LANLs conduct of operations policies and programs while mentoring and coaching. Working closely with Project Managers, you will help define the scope of work for each shift and communicate progress, potential obstacles, and recommended solutions to shift management and senior ALDPI leadership. Additionally, you will contribute to business development efforts by presenting the organization's capabilities and supporting opportunities for future work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implements Integrated Safety Management (ISM) by embedding safety (health, environment, security, quality) into all work, promoting accountability, and fostering open communication and engagement.
  • Advises management on compliance with government regulations, DOE contracts, and Laboratory policies to ensure full adherence.
  • Interprets and provides guidance on project management policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Develops and recommends project management policies, plans, and execution strategies for consistent and effective project delivery.
  • Establishes standardized management practices to ensure consistency, knowledge sharing, and alignment across projects.
  • Oversees project performance by monitoring progress, approving key plans and estimates, and ensuring corrective actions are taken.
  • Directs staff and project teams, including delegation of authority, staffing plans, training, and fostering continuous improvement.
  • Ensures coordination across departments, resolving issues promptly and maintaining an integrated project approach.
  • Manages project controls and business functions, including cost estimates, schedules, forecasts, budgets, and client relations.
  • Leads personnel and organizational management, including hiring, performance management, workforce planning, and fostering an inclusive, respectful workplace.


What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:
Technical Leadership
Proven ability to successfully lead and manage (organize, direct, control) a technically oriented project team in the execution of moderately complex project/operation, including supervision and development of employees. Experience leading construction projects including proactively managing changes in project scope, identifying project risks, and developing successful execution plans.

Technical Excellence
Demonstrated knowledge and experience managing multi-discipline work within nuclear facilities or other high hazard industries involving programmatic/production type work. Project experience with DOE O 413.3B projects or equivalent system of requirements. Knowledge of/and experience in engineering, procurement, construction, and project turnover. Strong understanding of financial analysis and planning concepts.

Collaboration and Coalition Building
Strong experience in developing and nurturing effective internal and external customer relationships. Provide project leadership on issues that require cross-organizational solutions. Ability to promote an open and informal communication environment, to develop mutual trust and teamwork, and to facilitate employee self-development.

Personal Leadership
Proven leadership and management in the following areas: personnel management, customer engagement, and stakeholder management.

Communication
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills that includes reporting on project status to senior level management and project stakeholders.

Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:

LANL Operations
Familiarity in nuclear facility operations or other highly complex hazardous operations.

Stakeholder Relations
Experience working on integrated project teams in construction.

Clearance
Active DOE Q clearance desired

Work Schedule: This position may require 24/7 coverage, which could involve working a shift/weekend schedule. Employees may be eligible for shift differential pay when assigned by their manager. Shift/weekend assignments are at the discretion of the manager.

Work Location : The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
