Job Description:

The Lean Transformation team is an internal transformation team that works with business leaders to optimize processes, transform operating models, and identify opportunities for automation and AI-enabled solutions. Serving Sun Life's DBTS and Sun Life's Canadian Business Units, the Manager Lean and AI transformation will pair their consulting mindset with a Lean Six Sigma toolkit, and experience with automation and Generative AI capabilities to drive process improvement and digital transformation.

What will you do?
  • Build operating models for various business areas which includes defining the process, people, and system capabilities needed to meet business goals
  • Assess the performance and capability of processes and operational groups (throughput, cycle time, productivity, waste, etc.)
  • Lead stakeholder workshops and current-state assessments to surface pain points and opportunities; translate findings into prioritized use-case backlogs, high-level requirements, and target-state process designs
  • Redesign and simplify processes to make them "automation/AI-ready" reducing variability, clarifying decision points and eliminating non-value-added steps
  • Identify, frame, and prioritize automation and AI/GenAI opportunities with business partners by facilitating use-case discovery, defining problem statements and success measures, assessing feasibility (data readiness, risk/privacy, change impact), and building a clear roadmap from opportunity through pilot and scale
  • Partner with data and technology teams to translate optimized processes into AI enabled solutions (e.g. intelligent workflows, autonomous agents)
  • Lead project management activities including planning, scheduling, governance, and execution to successful completion, including maintaining full documentation of the project lifecycle
  • Communicate complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Be a consistent and strong contributor to the team by providing innovative ideas for improving our own productivity and management practices
  • Commit to self-development towards mastery of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) practices, tools and methodologies, project management principles and industry knowledge


What do you need to succeed?
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in management consulting, process improvement, or operational excellence roles
  • Demonstrates superior communication skills, both written and verbal, tailoring messages to resonate with all organizational levels
  • Strong project management orientation with the ability to prioritize work deliverables and competing priorities
  • Expertise in advanced data analysis and visualization, with a proven track record of extracting actionable insights from complex datasets to drive strategic decision-making
  • Drives for change through a strong ability to influence business partners and execute ideas through to completion
  • Experience leveraging automation, process mining and AI tools such as AWS, Power BI, Power Apps, Pega, Blue Prism, Tableau, etc. to build and scale business solutions
  • Exposure to Generative AI and/or agentic AI use cases in a business context, including evaluating suitability, defining use cases or supporting implementation
  • Expert level knowledge of MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS VISIO
  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence, Planview, Microsoft Co-Pilot and Miro is an asset
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification (or equivalent)
  • University degree with 5-7 years of relevant experience with increasing responsibilities

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
