The Manager, Governance & Process Optimization is accountable for supporting the governance, oversight, maintenance, and effective lifecycle management of GRM policy documents for the GPO (GRM Global Policy Office). The role contributes to the consistent application of enterprise policy standards across GRM by providing subject matter guidance, coordination, and challenge throughout the policy lifecycle, ensuring alignment with the GRM Policy on Governance Documents, internal risk management frameworks, and applicable regulatory expectations. The Manager, Governance & Process Optimization is responsible for assisting in the GRM Policy modernization work, providing training to GRM Policy owners, serving as liaison to subsidiaries to monitor implementation of Phase 2 recommendations, developing and maintaining GPO site, and assisting in the maintenance of the Policy Management Tool

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Key duties involve assisting in the alignment of policy content with the Policy on Governance Documents prior to publication, and enabling faster, consistent more controlled policy updates.
  • Provide hands on support to Policy Owners during drafting and revision of GRM Policy Documents in the use of the Policy Management tool
  • Assist in tracking late reviews, policy exceptions, addendums, and standalone documents, and support escalation and reporting in accordance with GRM's Policy of Governance Documents
  • Promote a strong risk culture by reinforcing accountability, transparency, and consistency in policy governance practices across GRM
  • Identify opportunities to improve policy lifecycle processes, tooling, and guidance, supporting continuous enhancement of the Global Policy Office operating model
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
