Full Job Description
The Manager, Global Payroll is responsible for the accurate, compliant, and timely delivery of payroll across multiple regions, supporting a global workforce. This role provides end-to-end ownership of global payroll operations, including vendor management, audit controls, and process optimization.
This position partners closely with People Operations, Finance, and external payroll providers to ensure payroll integrity while driving scalable and efficient processes in a fast-paced, global environment.
Here's what you'll be doing:
Global Payroll Ownership & Delivery
- Own end-to-end payroll operations across multiple regions (EMEA, APAC, North America)
- Oversee payroll processing through external vendors, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Review and approve payroll outputs, validating calculations and resolving discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements, filings, and reporting obligations
- Lead year-end payroll activities and regulatory reporting
Payroll Accounting & Financial Reconciliation
- Partner with Finance to ensure accurate payroll accounting and alignment to general ledger (GL) reporting
- Review and validate payroll journals, accruals, and postings across all regions
- Perform and/or oversee payroll reconciliations including net pay, taxes, benefits, and statutory balances
- Support month-end and year-end close processes related to payroll
- Investigate and resolve payroll variances in partnership with Finance and vendors
- Ensure payroll data integrity supports accurate financial reporting and forecasting
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary owner of global payroll vendor relationships
- Drive accountability with vendors on timelines, accuracy, and service delivery
- Partner with Finance on payroll funding, approvals, and reconciliation
- Collaborate with People Operations to ensure accurate employee data and transactions
Audit, Controls & Compliance
- Establish and maintain strong payroll controls and audit processes
- Ensure all payroll changes are supported by approved workflows and documentation
- Support internal and external audits, including documentation and variance analysis
- Monitor payroll risks and implement mitigation strategies
Process Improvement & Systems
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce risk
- Support ongoing Dayforce payroll optimization and configuration
- Standardize global payroll processes while respecting local requirements
- Build and maintain documentation for payroll processes and controls
Leadership & Ownership
- Serve as the subject matter expert for global payroll across the organization
- Provide guidance and support to People Operations team members involved in payroll inputs
- Drive accountability and clarity across payroll workflows and responsibilities
Here's what you need:
Qualifications
- 5-8+ years of global payroll experience, including multi-country payroll oversight
- Strong experience managing external payroll vendors across multiple regions
- Deep understanding of payroll compliance and statutory requirements
- Experience with Dayforce or similar global payroll systems
- Strong understanding of payroll controls, audits, and risk management
- Ability to operate independently and take ownership in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting EMEA and APAC payrolls
- Experience working through payroll transformations or system implementations
Salary: The base salary for this role is $120,000 CAD to $140,000 CAD per year. The total compensation package may vary depending on non-discriminatory factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
