Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of 4 Specialists and 1 OSC Manager.
  • Act as the main liaison between PDO, sub-regional business areas, and operations for Gen Gas plant issues.
  • Manage central team operations covering OSC, small ASU, HPN, VSA, and administrative month-end closing.
  • Coordinate project turnovers and new plant startups with operations and PDO.
  • Troubleshoot technical plant issues and disseminate improvements across similar plants.
  • Lead the Gen Gas Community of Practice to share safety issues and improvement opportunities.
  • Oversee contract extension assessments to assist project engineering in estimating re-life projects.

Air Products is seeking an experienced Manager, Generated Gases Central Team to join its team at the Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, PA.

The Central Generated Gases team supports the safe, efficient and reliable operation of over 140 cryogenic onsite plants in North America. The team provides technical leadership and promotes the advancement of the individuals and teams operating the Gen Gas plants. The team is key to the achievement of the sub-regional businesses’ Operating Income profitably goals.

The Manager, Generated Gases Central Team, must be a self-motivated leader with strong technical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for direct supervision of 4 Specialists and 1 OSC Manager
  • Acting as the primary contact between PDO, sub-regional business areas and Operations as a point of escalation of any Gen Gas plant or product line issues
  • Managing central team to support Gen Gas operations, including OSC, vacation relief, small ASU, HPN, VSA and administrative month end closing
  • Supporting the coordination between Operations and PDO for turnover of projects/new plant startups
  • Technical troubleshooting of plant issues, and sharing of improvements to ensure broad resolution across fleet of similar plants
  • Leading Gen Gas Community of Practice to share failures, incidents, safety issues, and improvement opportunities among all the GG supervisors
  • Leading contract extension scope assessments to allow the project engineering team to estimate re-life projects for the plants
  • Promoting tool development and adaptation to improve monitoring and resolution of operating issues, shortfalls, reliability concerns
  • Ensuring consistency in Gen Gas staffing decisions to ensure proper level of operations personnel to achieve reliability targets while keeping costs optimized
  • Developing RCAs for major Gen Gas product supply interruptions, cost impacts, or significant downtime events
  • Leading Gen Gas reliability efforts by completing Reliability Operating System assessments, working closely with the central ROS team

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical field preferred.
  • 10+ years operations experience with strong working knowledge of operating plant systems including Maintenance.
  • Candidates must have at least 5 years of leadership experience in Operations or Plant Management.
  • Demonstrated managerial leadership skills and proven interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams remotely
  • Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time.
  • Demonstrated excellence in asset management efforts to drive continuous improvement in business profitability.
  • Track record of success on safety, health and environmental protection.
  • A strong commitment to employee involvement, team building and diversity.
