Project Management Certification (PMP) is required.

EPIC and Hospital Experience Highly Preferred

Summary

The Manager, IT Project Management is responsible for the day-to-day operations, methodology, and governance of the Information Technology project portfolio. The role ensures that a team of Project Managers delivers complex healthcare technology initiatives. The role serves as the primary gatekeeper for project intake, a mentor for project leadership, and a key administrative lead for departmental financial and performance management.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Manage the daily activities of Project Managers; provide coaching, remove roadblocks, and ensure adherence to the standard Project Management Life Cycle (PMLC).
  • Project Intake & Prioritization: Oversee the formal IT intake process; evaluate new project requests for feasibility, resource requirements.
  • Performance Management: Conduct regular performance evaluations, feedback sessions and "check-ins" for the PM team; establish clear KPIs and goals for each direct report.
  • Financial & Budgetary Oversight: Manage the PMO operational budget; review and approve related expenses for the Project portfolio management tool and staffing.
  • Administrative Approvals: Act as the primary authority for staff timecards, PTO requests and other related approvals.
  • Governance & Reporting: Maintain the PMO dashboard; provide weekly/monthly status updates on portfolio health, resource utilization, and high-risk milestones.
  • Vendor Management: Partner with third-party vendors to ensure delivery milestones are met and that contract terms are upheld during the implementation of specialized clinical systems.
  • Performs all other related job duties as assigned.

Experience

  • Generally requires 5 to 7 years of related experience. Management experience is required.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field is required.

  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
