Manager, Financial Reporting

Los Angeles, California

Hybrid Schedule (M/F remote, T/W/TH in-office)

About this team:

Our Financial Reporting team is based in Los Angeles alongside the majority of our broader Finance organization. This lean, highly collaborative team is responsible for SEC and financial reporting, technical accounting, and related compliance activities.

As a member of the Financial Reporting team, you will partner closely with Accounting, FP&A, Legal, the People Team, and external auditors to support the Company’s quarterly and annual reporting processes. Responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, tying out, and filing Forms 10-Q, 10-K, and other SEC filings, as well as supporting technical accounting analyses, equity-related accounting, and other strategic finance initiatives.

In this role you will: 

  • Develop a strong understanding of the Company’s business operations, processes, and key financial reporting risks.

  • Prepare and review financial statements and footnote disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.

  • Support the preparation and filing of Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and other SEC filings 

  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of disclosures through detailed review of U.S. GAAP and SEC disclosure checklists.

  • Prepare and review supporting financial reporting schedules, analyses, and documentation.

  • Coordinate the quarterly and annual reporting calendar and ensure adherence to key filing deadlines.

  • Support quarterly reviews and annual audits by coordinating with external auditors and internal stakeholders.

  • Maintain and enhance SOX documentation, including process flowcharts, risk/control matrices, and control narratives.

  • Research and interpret new accounting standards and SEC guidance, and assess the impact on the organization.

  • Partner with external auditors, consultants, Legal, the People Team, and other cross-functional stakeholders on technical accounting and reporting matters.

  • Review journal entries, reconciliations, and analyses related to stock-based compensation and equity activity.

  • Review Black-Scholes valuation calculations and support accounting analyses related to stock-based compensation arrangements.

  • Support financial due diligence and accounting integration efforts related to acquisitions and strategic initiatives.

  • Prepare and submit census and related data requests from government agencies and regulatory bodies.

  • Mentor and review the work of more junior team members and provide guidance on accounting and reporting matters.

  • Assist with process improvement initiatives and automation opportunities across the financial reporting function.

  • Perform ad hoc analyses and special projects, as needed.

  • Provide backup support for the Director of Financial Reporting, as needed.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or Business, with minimum of 4 years of experience in Financial Reporting, or 3 years of public accounting experience.

  • CPA preferred.

  • Highly detail and deadline oriented with the ability to prioritize, focus and thrive in a high paced multi-tasking environment.

  • Strong verbal and written skills along with good interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Strong Excel skills required.

  • Curious in nature and motivated to learn and work hard.

  • Public company experience and knowledge of internal controls preferred.

  • Oracle experience or experience with large ERP systems preferred.

  • Experience in the technology industry a plus

In California, the base salary range for this position is: $130,000-$150,000 in addition to an annual variable bonus based on performance and company equity (NASDAQ: MGNI).
