Purpose

The Manager is a key contributor to the overall success of the International Banking Expense Management team. They will directly support a Senior Manager with the reporting and forecasting of a portfolio of the IB Head Office expenses and conduct analyses and investigations to identify expense optimization opportunities. The Manager will also be responsible to develop and optimize expense data and reporting tools used by the team. They will also oversee various departmental processes which may include system testing, business continuity plans, expense approvals, and policy compliance.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

Financial Reporting - Performance Review & Measurement:
• Develop, maintain, and optimize the data reporting framework utilized by the IB Expense Management team to analyze actual results and perform forecasting and planning.
• Perform reasonability of P/L expense accounts to support the integrity of the quarterly results and the timely completion of the regional quarter end reporting package (Bluebook and variance reports to Executive).
• Monitor results against appropriate performance measurement criteria and key metrics.
Expense Management & Analytics:
• Analyze and provide meaningful insights into a portfolio of expenses.
• Conduct in-depth analysis of cost categories with large variances.
• Execute special projects and respond to priorities and Executive Management requests on a wide range of expense/allocation/other topics.
Forecasting and Planning:
• Support the integrity and timely completion of monthly and quarterly forecasting process.
• Recommend and implement continuous improvements to the system to better meet corporate, regional, and business line requirements.
• Support the annual profit plan exercise, overseeing the completion, inclusion, and analysis of a portfolio of Head Office expenses.
Head Office Expense Management:
• Oversee a portfolio of Head Office expenses, obtaining deep understanding into results, forecasts, and key business drivers.
• Prepare the analysis and backup for journal entries during month-end, as required.
• Review and approve of corporate card expenses and ensure compliance with Scotiabank Expense Policies.
• Administer all requirements of the departmental Business Continuity Plan.
Country Support:
• Provide support to country Finance partners by coordinating expense and contract approval requests.
• Act as a liaison between other Finance/Accounting groups and country partners.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
• University undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce, or related field.
• Completion of, or working towards a CPA, CFA, or MBA preferred.
• 3 to 5 years of related experience, with at least 2 years in a Planning and Analysis function.
• Proficiency with Excel and advanced skills in other Microsoft Office applications
• Data-driven problem solving and attention to detail.
• Ability to deliver results under tight deadlines with multiple priorities.
• Experience with Hyperion and Smart View is a strong asset.
• Experience with Oracle EGL, PeopleSoft, and OBI is an asset.
