As the Manager, Engineering, you will provide strategic and people leadership for an engineering team responsible for advancing innovative products, systems, and technology solutions. You will guide priorities, develop talent, enable effective execution, and strengthen collaboration across engineering, product management, program management, and business partners. This role requires a strong balance of technical leadership, people leadership, and business acumen to accelerate innovation and deliver meaningful outcomes for customers and the business.

  • Lead and develop a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and professional development opportunities that empower engineers to achieve business objectives while advancing their individual career goals.
  • Drive the design, development, and delivery of innovative products, systems, and technology solutions, ensuring high-quality outcomes that meet customer and business needs.
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve engineering processes, methodologies, and best practices that support efficient and effective technology deployment.
  • Develop and execute engineering strategies and roadmaps that align with organizational priorities, ensuring successful delivery through effective cross-functional collaboration and resource management.
  • Partner closely with engineering, product management, program management, and other business stakeholders to align priorities, remove obstacles, and achieve project and business objectives.
  • Monitor and improve engineering performance, quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness across projects, deliverables, and team activities.
  • Communicate engineering priorities, roadmaps, progress, risks, and accomplishments to engineering leadership, senior leaders, and stakeholders across the organization.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance technologies, processes, team effectiveness, and business outcomes.
  • Provide oversight of local facility management activities, ensuring the workplace, infrastructure, equipment, and operational services support a safe, efficient, compliant, and productive environment for employees, visitors, and business partners.

What You Have (Basic Requirements):

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
  • Customer/Market Focus: Understanding of the importance of remaining aware of shifting market priorities and ability to respond to internal and external customer needs in a manner that consistently adds value.
  • Managing People: Knowledge of processes involved in managing people; ability to lead successful teams and diligently address issues related to performance and conflicts at the workplace.
  • Collaborating Globally: Knowledge of effective collaboration techniques and ability to build networks with people from different countries and cultures, think and work with them to bring positive impact and flourishing business results.

What Will Set You Apart (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Fluency in English and French (both written and spoken) is preferred to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders and ensure accurate interpretation of information.
  • Previous experience leading software, systems, or multidisciplinary engineering teams in a technology development environment.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex Product Development Lifecycle (PDL) projects, with a strong understanding of balancing technical, business, and resource constraints to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Leadership experience within autonomous systems, robotics, automation, or related technology domains, including technical knowledge and an understanding of customer needs, industry trends, and application challenges.
  • Knowledge of the construction, mining, or heavy equipment industries and the technologies that support these markets.
  • Proven ability to lead engineering organizations through innovation, technology development, and successful execution of strategic initiatives.
  • Experience supporting or providing oversight for facility, laboratory, office, or operational site management activities, including coordination of workplace services, infrastructure needs, safety expectations, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience collaborating across engineering, product management, program management, and business functions to drive alignment and deliver business results.
