Full Job Description
Summary

The Diagnostic Imaging Manager oversees efficient and effective operations of daily activities within the imaging department. This may include some or all modalities based on the medical center location (CT, Mammography, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT, Ultrasound, and X-ray). Ensures policies and procedures are followed and proposes new policies. Manages all aspects of team members hiring, training, performance evaluations, and coaching/corrective action. Develops and monitors financial budgets. Assists with data gathering and monitoring of departmental performance and ensures targets are achieved. Works collaboratively with other department managers within the medical center, Imaging Managers across the health system, the System Director of Imaging Services and functions within a matrix reporting structure. Assists the System Director of Imaging with strategic planning and implementing strategic initiatives. Ensures adherence to system processes and priorities.

Responsibilities

(20%) * Responsible for HR duties including coaching, corrective action, adherence to policies and procedures, education of team members on customer service skills to maintain consistency and high level of motivation. Responsible for completing job performance reviews on the team. Responsible for timekeeping system, schedules, and approving timecards.

(20%) * Accountable for applicant screening and new employee hiring/orientation. Supervises, coordinates, and participates in work activities for entire department. Delegates responsibility and authority to appropriate individuals. Develops goals and objectives for personnel to assure continued growth and improvement.

(20%) * Responsible for communication by keeping team members informed of changes and ensuring all areas of responsibility are functioning with same guidelines and processes. Coordinate policies and any changes with other departments. Organize staff meetings and assisting with presentations/speakers and distribution of minutes.

(20%) * Development of new tests and procedures. Work with marketing and physician liaison teams to promote services and address any service-related concerns.

(20%) * Monitors regulatory standards for imaging services. Maintains Joint Commission, ACR, NRC, and turn-around-time standards and accreditations as applicable. Also responsible for Lead garment testing, Critical Test tracking, Radiation exposure reporting and Equipment physicist testing as applicable. Serves as a member of the Radiation Safety Committee and assists with equipment state registration as applicable. Prepares for inspections and meets with regulatory surveyors. Promotes the development, analysis, and implementation of performance improvement processes.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the management and implementation of projects i.e. imaging equipment upgrades and EMR/PACS or other software changes.

Accountable for justifications of FTE and other requests, compile data, PI data to initiate or sustain business objectives.

Responsible for supply and equipment acquisition and any service level contracts associated with such purchases in collaboration with the purchasing department.

Responsible for the creation of teaching materials and methods to test the competency of team members.

Participates with medical or system committees and community events as appropriate.

Certifications and Licensures

ARRT - Reg Radiologic Technologist

Required Equivalent Experience - Currently registered by an accredited organization. ARRT Registered in CT, MRI, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Radiography, or Sonography or ARDMS Sonography Must be registered by ARRT or ARDMS

NIMS IS 100 - NIMS IS 100 Introduction Incident Command System

Required Equivalent Experience - Within 6 months of hire or transfer

NIMS IS 200 - NIMS IS 200 Basic Incident Command System Initial Response

Required Equivalent Experience - Within 6 months of hire or transfer

NIMS IS 700 - NIMS IS 700 Introduction National Incident Mgt System

Required Equivalent Experience - Within 6 months of hire or transfer

Required Education

Education: Associate degree

Equivalent Experience: Preferred Bachelor's degree in allied health, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.

Other Information

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:

A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years supervisory experience required.

Currently registered by an accredited organization.

Leadership skills needed to effectively direct a group.

Basic computer skills and knowledge.

Knowledge of basic marketing techniques and financial analysis.

Written and interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.

Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must also be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as trauma, grief and death.

Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.

Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.

Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).

Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.

Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.

Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.

Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.

Physical Demand Level: Sedentary. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 0-10 lbs.
