Human-in-the-Loop
At LegalZoom, we operate with a human-in-the-loop model, where AI enhances-rather than replaces-human judgment. We believe the strongest outcomes for our customers come from thoughtfully integrating human expertise with AI capabilities to improve accuracy, safety, and decision-making.
To align with our AI-integrated operating model, our interview process will assess AI fluency, curiosity, and measurable/impactful workflow integration.
Overview
LegalZoom is seeking a Corporate Finance Manager to join our Corporate Finance team. This role will own key elements of LegalZoom's forecasting and financial performance management processes, partnering closely with Finance leaders to understand what is driving performance, translate those insights into a clear financial outlook, and help the organization make better decisions.
This is a highly visible role with regular exposure to LegalZoom's CFO and senior leadership from the outset. The ideal candidate is analytically rigorous and strategically minded, with a high degree of ownership and a natural curiosity about how things work and how they can be better. They should be equally comfortable diving into the details of a financial model, challenging an assumption in a forecast, or stepping back to rethink a process that isn't working as well as it should.
We are looking for someone who doesn't simply inherit processes - they want to understand them, improve them and make them better over time. The role also offers significant opportunity to experiment with AI and emerging tools to automate work, improve analysis and fundamentally rethink how Corporate Finance operates.
You will
- Own and drive key elements of LegalZoom's forecasting and performance management processes, including forecast consolidation, pacing and variance analysis, while continuously improving how we forecast and understand the business
- Develop a deep understanding of LegalZoom's business drivers and financial performance, using data to identify trends, risks and opportunities and translate them into actionable insights
- Own and improve core financial models, ensuring they are accurate, scalable and useful for decision-making rather than simply maintaining existing processes
- Build the financial point of view behind the numbers, pressure-testing assumptions and developing a clear perspective on what is driving changes in the outlook
- Partner closely with Business Finance and other Finance teams to develop assumptions, understand business performance and identify risks and opportunities
- Play a key role in AOP and long-range planning, translating business assumptions into financial outcomes and connecting near-term performance to our longer-term outlook
- Develop clear, concise reporting for senior leadership and the CFO, turning complex analysis into a focused view of what changed, why it matters and what we should do next
- Question and continuously improve how Finance works, using automation, AI and emerging tools to simplify processes, improve analysis and create scalable ways of working
- Take on high-priority analytical and strategic projects as needed across Corporate Finance
You have
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or a related field
- 5+ years of relevant experience in FP&A, investment banking, consulting or a similarly analytical environment
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, with the ability to understand complex businesses and quickly identify the drivers that matter
- Strong business judgment and critical thinking - you naturally move beyond "what happened?" to "why did it happen?", "what does it mean?", and "what should we do about it?"
- A strong sense of ownership - you take responsibility for outcomes, follow problems through to resolution and don't wait to be told what needs to get done
- Natural curiosity and a builder's mindset - you want to understand why a process exists, whether it's working, and aren't afraid to experiment with better ways of doing things
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to distill complex financial information into a clear and concise recommendation or point of view
- Experience owning planning, forecasting or other recurring financial processes end-to-end
- A genuine enthusiasm for AI and emerging technology, with a bias toward experimenting, learning and finding practical applications
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; experience with financial planning, BI or data visualization tools is a plus
