Full Job Description
Our Corporate Services group is currently looking to add a Manager, Corporate Communications to our growing team, based in Calgary, AB.

Reporting to the VP, Corporate Strategy, this position leads enterprise-wide communications strategies for complex and high-profile infrastructure projects. We are looking for someone with deep expertise in corporate and stakeholder communications coupled with hands-on proficiency with AI-driven tools that accelerate content creation, design, and communications analytics. This is a leadership role for a strategic communicator who understands that trust is built long before shovels go in the ground.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Execute Valard's enterprise marketing and brand strategy aligned with corporate growth objectives
  • Guide communications for major transmission, substation, and utility construction projects across Canada, ensuring clear, timely, and accurate messaging to all project stakeholders
  • Manage corporate communications including media relations, public relations (PR), social media, website management, and internal messaging
  • Champion the integration of AI-powered tools - including generative AI for content drafting, image generation for branded materials - into Valard's communications workflow
  • Oversee development of marketing materials including capability statements, project profiles, presentations, brochures, and digital content
  • Partner with Business Development and Operations teams to support proposals, pursuits, and client engagement strategies
  • Manage external agencies, vendors, and creative partners to ensure consistent brand standards and messaging
  • Monitor market trends, competitor positioning, and industry insights to inform strategic planning
  • Develop and manage the marketing budget, including tracking return on investment (ROI)
  • Lead and mentor the marketing team, establishing clear priorities and performance expectations

Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field
  • 10 years of progressive marketing experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Experience within construction, utilities, engineering, infrastructure, or industrial sectors
  • Demonstrated experience leading brand strategy, digital marketing, and corporate communications
  • Proven experience managing marketing budgets and external agency relationships
  • Strong understanding of proposal marketing and business development support in a project-based environment

Preferred Skills / Qualifications
  • Experience in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) organizations
  • Knowledge of Canadian utility and infrastructure markets
  • Accreditation in Public Relations (APR), Indigenous Relations (e.g., CCAB Progressive Aboriginal Relations), or equivalent.
  • Experience implementing AI-driven programming within the brand and internal communications space
  • Master's degree in business administration (MBA) or related field
