Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Executive Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations, the incumbent will serve as a front line fundraiser with a select portfolio of prospects ($50,000+). The incumbent participates in the overall formulation of the Corporate and Foundation Relations fundraising strategy through meetings and discussions with university divisions. Specifically, the incumbent acts as a liaison with the divisions for this segment of the advancement portfolio to ensure follow up where necessary in regards to gifts or proposals and to disseminate prospect and process information that will assist with development-related activities.

The Manager, Corporate and Foundation Relations Programs manages U of T's sponsorship program. The incumbent is responsible for offering assistance to divisions and sponsors inquiring about the program and eligibility and ensuring timely and accurate processing of sponsorships.

The incumbent will support donor relations by developing and implementing donor engagement plans, activities, and events that support strategic objectives and drafting donor acknowledgement and recognition communications. The incumbent will write briefing notes, solicitation plans and call reports to track donor interactions for the Executive Director, Corporate & Foundation Relations and other senior university leaders as required.

The incumbent will conduct research on prospects, including corporations and foundations, identified by the Directors and the Executive Director. In addition, the incumbent may conduct ongoing research in other related fields to identify potential donors and sources of donor information as directed. The incumbent will prepare a variety of reports including contact and giving history and prospect assignment status using the constituency information database. In addition, the incumbent will ensure the timely entry of relevant data into thedatabase and other appropriate administrative systems to ensure accurate prospect tracking. Maintenance of a high level of competency with the ARBOR CRM system and other data information systems is critical.

The incumbent provides comprehensive support to the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations and direct administrative support to the Executive Director: develops a comprehensive system of organization, filing and processes (to support the CFR unit) to track several hundred corporate anduniversity wide development relationships, ensures follow up communication on behalf of the Executive Director with high-level donors and partners using tact and diplomacy in the instance of confidential and highly sensitive matters, act as a front line representative in the absence of the Executive Director and is in constant and direct communication with team Directors to ensure ongoing follow up of team directives.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying, evaluating and recommending the necessary steps to bring the prospect closerto making a major financial commitment to the University
  • Writing project-specific proposals related to fundraising campaigns
  • Cultivating and soliciting current and prospective major gift donors through tailored stewardship programs
  • Managing donor relations
  • Meeting face-to-face with current and potential donors to discuss giving interests and opportunities
  • Writing briefing notes, solicitation plans and call reports to track donor interaction
  • Producing complex donor reports


Essential Qualifications:

  • University degree with a specialization in business or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years relevant experience in advancement (fundraising), with responsibility for development and sponsorship.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project management.
  • Experience in a post-secondary environment strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills, and the proven ability to synthesize and accurately present relevant information to senior leadership, donors or corporate partners.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet demanding deadlines within a fast paced, collaborative environment.
  • A strong results orientation, with a track record of solving problems creatively.
  • A strong commitment to producing measurable results.
  • Service-oriented results focused attitude with attention to responding timely with accuracy and precision
