Found in 1964, Innis College provides an informal home to about 2,200 undergraduate students within the Faculty of Arts & Science at the University of Toronto. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Advising staff on accounting practices and University financial policies and procedures
  • Monitoring department budget to ensure expenditures remain within budgeted allocations
  • Recording detailed transactions for many accounts including payroll
  • Monitoring, recording, reconciling and/or reporting on funding accounts for grants and contracts
  • Identifying and resolving individual financial discrepancies
  • Preparing financial summary reports
  • Processing payroll
  • Verifying that HRIS transactions are processed according to applicable policies, procedures, collective agreements, and applicable legislated requirements


Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in commerce, accounting and/or finance or acceptable combination of equivalent experience. Professional accounting designation or working towards a designation preferred.
  • Minimum four years of recent and related experience with financial and payroll administration, preferably in a post-secondary environment.
  • Experience monitoring and reconciling budgets to ensure expenditures remain within budgeted allocations.
  • Experience monitoring, recording, reconciling and/or reporting on funding accounts for grants and contracts.
  • Experience with verifying and processing all accounts payable and receivable activities, and expense reimbursements.
  • Experience processing payroll for appointed and non-appointed staff, generating reports, and troubleshooting and resolving payroll discrepancies.
  • Experience analyzing complex statistical reports and/or financial information for financial planning and funding terms compliance.
  • Experience with forecasting and planning financial activities incorporating budgets with multiple sources of revenue and/or recoveries.
  • Experience with implementing plans and process improvements for administrative workflows.
  • Advanced knowledge ofMicrosoft Office including Excel and Word.
  • Experience working with HRIS, FIS, or other similar SAP administrative systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience successfully communicating complex financial data, policies, and procedures to stakeholders with varying levels of financial knowledge.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management skills in order to meet competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, accuracy with figures, and detail oriented.
