PurposeContributes to the overall success of the Global Banking and Markets & Group Treasury ("GBM&T") Compliance Department in the U.S. ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted follow governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
The objective of this position is to support the execution, maintenance and ongoing enhancement of the U.S. Compliance Risk and Control Assessment ("CRCA") program. The Manager will partner with the CRCA Senior Manager to help administer the annual and quarterly CRCA processes, support adherence to CRCA policies, procedures and governance requirements, and provide guidance to business and corporate function units in completing risk assessments consistent with applicable methodology. The Manager will support the review and challenge of assessment inputs, rationale documentation, action plan mapping, quality assurance activities, management reporting and related program enhancements. The role requires substantial coordination with Compliance Advisory, Business Units, Corporate Functions, Internal Audit and other stakeholders to promote consistent execution, data quality, timely escalation and sustainable control enhancements across the U.S. Compliance framework.
What You'll Do - Support the execution of the independent second line CRCA process, including annual and quarterly assessment activities, themed reviews and ad-hoc reviews of Business, Corporate Function and Compliance processes.
- Review and challenge risk assessment inputs, documented rationale, control strength considerations and action plan mappings to help ensure assessments are complete, supportable, consistently applied and aligned to CRCA methodology and governance requirements.
- Execute CRCA quality assurance reviews in a timely manner, document results clearly and prepare actionable recommendations to strengthen assessment quality, rationale documentation, data integrity and stakeholder execution.
- Assist in maintaining CRCA policies, procedures, operating guidance, training materials, and related governance documentation to support consistent execution across U.S. Compliance stakeholders.
- Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Compliance Advisory, Business and Corporate Function units, Internal Audit, other control partners, to support timely input, effective challenge and appropriate escalation throughout the CRCA lifecycle.
- Monitor regulatory, business and control environment developments that may impact Compliance risk assessments, related controls, action plans, monitoring, testing or management reporting.
- Coordinate CRCA deliverables, timelines, stakeholder communications and follow-ups to support timely completion of assessment milestones and related governance reporting.
- Support preparation of annual and periodic CRCA reporting, including qualitative results summaries, key themes, risk trends, action plan status, quality review results and materials for management or governance forums.
- Support the use of CRCA outputs to inform related Compliance activities, including surveillance activities, monitoring priorities, testing considerations, issue management, regulatory library/control mapping and broader compliance risk reporting.
- Identify opportunities to improve CRCA process efficiency, workflow, reporting, data quality, taxonomy alignment, and documentation standards.
- Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities, assessment judgments, stakeholder challenge and escalation decisions.
- Identify and implement technology, automation and process-related recommendations to improve CRCA execution, management reporting, evidence retention and data quality.
- Provide guidance to stakeholders on CRCA methodology, rationale expectations, documentation standards and quality review feedback.
- Assist in driving discussions with stakeholders to develop, refine and track action plans for areas with elevated compliance risk, ineffective controls or quality review observations.
- Support clear mapping of CRCA results to business lines, assessable units, applicable risk taxonomy categories, controls, issues and related Compliance program outputs.
What You'll Bring- A minimum of five to seven years (5 - 7+) of compliance, risk management, audit, regulatory exam support or related financial services experience, preferably with a major international banking organization with institutional trading & sales, investment banking, institutional broker dealer and FCM/swap dealer businesses.
- Experience supporting or executing compliance risk assessments, control assessments, regulatory risk programs, issue management, monitoring, testing or related second line risk management processes.
- Experience reviewing assessment rationale, challenging risk or control conclusions, preparing management reporting and coordinating deliverables across multiple stakeholders within a financial services environment.
- Strong written drafting, editing, verbal communication and presentation skills, including the ability to prepare clear governance materials, executive summaries and quality review feedback.
- Good understanding of applicable Federal and State laws relevant to non-U.S. banks operating in the U.S., SEC registered broker-dealers, futures commission merchants, swap dealers and registered investment advisors.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to assess complex information, identify themes, support conclusions, recommend enhancements and execute deliverables with limited supervision.
- Ability to work independently, influence stakeholders, provide constructive challenge and interact professionally with Compliance leadership, senior management and control partners.
- Sound judgment in identifying compliance risks, control gaps, documentation weaknesses and matters requiring escalation through established channels.
- Excellent teamwork, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency with standard computer applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency with reporting tools, data management processes, workflow tools, regulatory library/control systems or issue tracking systems preferred.
- BA or international equivalent required. JD/Masters preferred but not required.
