Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for the development and implementation of governance, compliance, Safe Sport, and operational oversight for Carleton Athletics' Varsity Club and Competitive Club programs. This position is responsible for enhancing student-athlete welfare, ensuring adherence to university policies and sport governing body requirements, administering Safe Sport reporting and case management processes, interpreting and applying departmental policies and procedures, and supporting the effective operation and long-term sustainability of the department's sport programs.

Qualifications:

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
• Knowledge of high-performance sport program and service delivery models, planning processes, performance metrics, and data analysis.
• Knowledge of Safe Sport principles, practices, and reporting processes.
• Knowledge of creating positive student-athlete environments, including principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and Safe Sport.
• Knowledge of all facets of a high-performance sport model, including coaching, sport medicine, athletic development (strength and conditioning), mental performance, and nutrition; expertise in at least one of these areas is preferred.
• Ability to translate performance data into practical strategies to improve athletic performance and reduce injury risk.
• Knowledge of the Canadian university sport system and high-performance sport practices.
• Working knowledge of governance principles, policy interpretation and application, complaint management processes, administrative procedures, relevant legislation, collective agreements, and university policies.
• Knowledge of university structures, including academic units, departments, and divisions.
• Knowledge of office productivity software, databases, student records management systems, and related technology.

Education and Experience:

The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
• Completion of bachelor's degree in a related field (Social Work, Psychology, Higher education administration /Student Affairs, Human Kinetics, Sport Management or Kinesiology).
• Minimum of five years of related experience interpreting and applying policies, exercising sound judgment in sensitive situations, maintaining confidential records, and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
• A minimum of two years of supervisory or management experience is considered an asset.
• Experience as a high-performance coach and/or former varsity student-athlete is considered an asset.
