MANAGER, CHEME PRACTICE SCHOOL OPERATIONS, Chemical Engineering , to manage the day-to-day operations, administration, and finances of a unique Master's degree program within the Department of Chemical Engineering at MIT in which students, after completing two semesters of course work, are assigned in groups of seven to nine people to work at industrial sites or 'stations' for two months each at two different sites. Each station is assigned to a Lecturer, ChemE Practice School Station Director, who oversees the local program operations. Will ensure that Practice School stations launch and operate as planned and on schedule; set operational objectives, allocate resources, manage the program budget, and provide leadership across the program's administrative, financial, compliance, and logistical functions; contribute to the strategic planning and operations for the program by developing and maintaining relationships within the department, MIT, and with industry partners; propose and implement recommendations for process improvements, and to manage program scope and life cycle; manage student recruitment, admission, and tracking processes in collaboration with ChemE Academic Office; organize and manage orientation meetings and participate in course preparation activities; act as the single point of contact for Students and Station Directors while on stations, to problem solve, and provide administrative and operational support to program participants and industrial partners.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED : Bachelor's degree; a minimum of four years of project/program management operations experience; excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, diligence, and strong analytical and communication skills; demonstrated judgment and ability to meet deadlines; and excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). PREFERRED : Experience managing academic programs and administration; experience managing or leading others; knowledge of and experience with MIT systems and academic programs; understanding of visa policies and cultural principles for regions where students are assigned; and ability and desire to learn new software applications.
