The Manager, Bus Systems is a key member of the LA28 Bus Operations teams, supporting the planning, coordination, and delivery of bus services for Olympic and Paralympic Games stakeholders. This role contributes to the development and implementation of system-specific transport operations, helping to ensure reliable, efficient, and timely movement across competition and non-competition venues.

Working in close coordination with and reporting to the Senior Manager, Stakeholder Bus Systems, internal LA28 Functional Areas (FAs), and the Games Transport Program Integrator (GTPI), the Manager, Bus Systems supports the development of operational plans across areas, such as route planning, vehicle allocation, depot coordination, and service scheduling. As such, this role will consist of regular movements between distributed Games-time venues and operational sites, including at times when public transportation options may be limited.

The Manager, Bus Systems role plays an important part in translating stakeholder requirements into operational plans, supporting readiness activities, and contributing to Games-time delivery within an assigned stakeholder transport system.

Key Responsibilities:

Service Planning and Design
  • Support the development of service delivery plans aligned with competition schedules and venue operations.
  • Coordinate route planning inputs, stop locations, and depot pairings in collaboration with the GTPI and internal planning teams.
  • Contribute to ensuring integration with other transport modes and stakeholder
  • services.


Operational Readiness
  • Coordinate and support readiness activities, including simulations, test events, and venue walkthroughs.
  • Assist in validating bus and crew requirements through demand modeling and scenario planning.
  • Support the development of contingency approaches for service disruptions and operational changes.


Games-Time Execution
  • Support delivery of a designated stakeholder-specific bus operation during Games-time.
  • Monitor service performance metrics (e.g., on-time performance, load factors) and escalate issues as required.
  • Coordinate with GTPI and venue teams to support issue resolution and operational adjustments.


Stakeholder Coordination
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, Venue Management, and Transport Stakeholder Services to confirm service requirements.
  • Support ongoing communication to ensure alignment between planning assumptions and operational delivery.

Technology and Reporting
  • Support implementation and use of operational systems, including GPS tracking and performance dashboards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of operating plans and support reporting activities pre-, during, and post-Games.


Background & Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in transportation planning, operations, or logistics, preferably within large-scale or complex environments.
  • Experience supporting service planning, scheduling, or operational delivery in bus or fleet operations.
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders and contribute to integrated operational delivery.
  • Experience supporting system implementation, operational tools, or data-driven decision-making is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability in leadership and people management.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Ability to work across office settings and on-site operational environments,

including depots, venues, and transport hubs.
  • Willingness to work flexible and extended hours, including early mornings,

evenings, weekends, and holidays during peak periods.
  • Ability to travel between multiple locations to support operational readiness and live service delivery.
  • Capacity to alternate between desk-based systems monitoring and active on-site coordination in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
  • Comfortable working in dynamic conditions, including outdoor settings, varying weather, elevated noise levels, and large crowds, while using standard operational technology (e.g., laptops, radios, mobile devices).


The annual base salary range for this position is $88,000.00 - $115,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28's operational business needs and applicable law.
