Position Overview:

MP Materials is seeking a highly capable Industrial Mechanical Supervisor to lead mechanical maintenance, machining, and fabrication activities supporting advanced magnet manufacturing. This working supervisor role oversees Industrial Mechanics, Fabricators/Welders, and Tool & Die Machinists, ensuring safe, reliable, and high-quality execution of all mechanical work in a 24/7 production environment.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth in rotating equipment, hydraulics/pneumatics, fabrication, and precision machining paired with leadership experience in setting standards, building technician capability, and driving preventive maintenance (PM) program development. This leader will play a key role in improving equipment uptime, mechanical reliability, and craftsmanship across the facility.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Lead mechanical maintenance activities, including troubleshooting, equipment repairs, fabrication, machining, and rebuilds.
  • Establish technical standards and workmanship expectations for mechanical, fabrication, and machining job types.
  • Develop, implement, and improve PM programs for rotating equipment, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, fabrication tools, and mechanical assets.
  • Oversee alignment procedures, bearing fits, lubrication practices, welding quality, machining tolerances, and piping/fabrication accuracy.
  • Ensure accurate and detailed SAP documentation including PM updates, corrective work, labor confirmations, and parts usage.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Reliability, and Projects to address chronic mechanical issues and support equipment installations.
  • Support rigging, alignment, commissioning, and mechanical integration for new equipment.
  • Participate in RCAs and reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain strict adherence to LOTO, hot work, rigging safety, confined space, and machine guarding requirements.
  • Coach, mentor, and build technical talent across mechanics, welders, and machinists.

Basic Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of industrial mechanical experience (rotating equipment, machining, welding, fabrication, or hydraulics/pneumatics).
  • 2+ years leadership or senior-level mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting capability across production and facility systems.
