Mechanical Plumbing Manager

Job Summary:

The position serves as an important part of the Technician team who specializes in the service of water-based piping systems, including but not limited to domestic piping systems, pumps, backflow prevention devices, natural gas, reclaim water and sewer. The role performs and oversees onsite emergency troubleshooting and repairs and identifies code and non-compliance issues. The position requires reliability, thoroughness, and strong attention to detail along with self-motivation and confidence. Since this role interfaces with FSF customers and helps to drive customer satisfaction, the Service Manager is expected to reflect the company's goal "to serve our customers with outstanding professionalism."

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Protects company assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls and protocols related to the company's Mechanical Repair department. Ensuring safe working conditions and quality control.
  • Displays exceptional project management skills and implements a proactive strategy that drives business results and enhances the Mechanical Repair team's experience.
  • Oversees the Technician team and maintains a highly organized, detailed schedule of regular maintenance repairs, effectively prioritizing service calls. Looks for ways to develop personal and professional growth among the repair technicians.
  • Manages, leads, and directs the activities of the Mechanical Technicians; effectively manages
    individuals' goals and responsibilities, delivers clear directives, and brings out the best in others.
  • Displays exceptional knowledge of commercial and residential Plumbing systems, installation, and repair. Exhibits strong problem-solving skills both with fieldwork and people issues.
  • Estimates and sells system service and maintenance repairs.
  • Performs timely departmental financial analysis and budgeting, performs report writing and review,
    quoting, invoicing and reconciliation using the company's CRM.
  • Oversees Technicians' service work and customer service interactions, ensuring that both are handled in the highest level of satisfaction through quality work and met expectations; ensures the individual team members are up to date on licenses and certification requirements.
  • Evaluates and makes appropriate improvements to departmental processes; ensuring that work practices are in line with the overall goals of the organization.
  • Oversees and works with installation, repair and/or replacement of mechanical plumbing equipment and systems, strictly following applicable codes and standards.
  • Identifies code violations and other non-compliant issues and recommends and guides solutions.
  • Reads, understands, and explains (as needed) inspection reports, product specification sheets, O&M manuals, drawing, blueprints, and fire codes.
  • Interacts professionally with customers, building engineers, property managers, and acts as an efficient team member within the department.
  • Uses a company provided service vehicle for work (if applicable) and keeps it well maintained and supplied with all parts, tools, and equipment; keeps the vehicle clean and organized with a complete inventory of tools and supplies.
  • Helps to identify continuous improvement solutions to promote efficiency,
  • Adheres to all company employment policies and safe practices, specifically CAL OSHA and safety measures related to work.

Experience/Training/Education:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience
  • Bachelor's degree, preferred
  • 13+ years of experience in the plumbing field
  • Knowledge of UPC and Backflow Device requirements
  • Safety training specific to the role

Job Type:
  • Full-time, on-site, Monday - Friday
  • 40 hours a week
