Full Job Description
Sofidel Tissue of Las Vegas 89030 is currently seeking a Maintenance Manager. We are searching for a candidate who is local to the area and is looking for a long-term role in a stable environment. Your expertise will make you an essential part of our team!

Responsibilities of the Maintenance Manager include but may not be limited to:

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for performing functions to support the converting department in terms of organized mechanical maintenance programs, including safety, process improvement, and project management. Supervise technicians and mechanics, coordinate and plan work to be performed as guided by precedent, and work within the limits of established policies.
  • Oversee personnel and any contractors needed to maintain equipment, as well as the servicing and maintenance of machinery and equipment within the converting department. Check the production logs every day. Track the progress of technician work orders. Close out the work orders for daily production.
  • Repairs, services, and maintenance should be planned, scheduled, and coordinated. Set maintenance and work order priorities. As needed, aid technicians in troubleshooting and repairs. may help with vibration analysis or mechanical testing. Organize maintenance tasks and have daily meetings.
  • Purchase supplies for the converting mill, as well as necessary machine parts and project work. Review and analyze equipment failures, liaise with vendors, improve equipment reliability, and inspect equipment. Maintain inventory including a supply of commonly used spare parts. Reconcile costs with production.
  • Collaborate with other supervisors and outside vendors as needed. Ensure all necessary tasks are completed within the allotted shutdown duration. Support production supervisors as well as department technicians and mechanics.
  • Interview, review resumes, and recommend hiring and termination of employees.
  • Determine the need and arrange for training on operations and safety of equipment. Complete performance evaluations for converting maintenance department.
  • Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and equipment running and operations and to meet schedules and quality requirements.
  • Maintain a safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules keeping the work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain a specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, policies, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform communications to management, and subordinates on a regular basis regarding, maintenance schedules, repairs, and plans for maintaining the equipment running.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements of the Maintenance Manager:
  • A bachelor's degree and/or a minimum of 3 years of management experience and 5 years of relevant mechanical maintenance experience is required.
  • Experience in the paper manufacturing industry is preferred but not required.
  • Strong electrical, mechanical, and troubleshooting experience is required.
  • Strong sense of job ownership/accountability with effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be flexible and able to work overtime and weekends when required.

Work Environment:

Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when in the plant and warehouse areas. PPE will include safety shoes, eye and ear protection, reflective vests, and hairnets or hats along with any other necessary protection. Temperatures in the plant/warehouse can range a great deal from season to season. The employee will be exposed to considerable paper dust, and employees will also be exposed to noise levels that will require hearing protection.
