Maintenance Engineer

Location: Anaheim Plant, Syensqo
Department: Maintenance
Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Position Summary

The Maintenance Engineer is a key member of the Anaheim plant maintenance team, serving as the understudy and potential successor to the Maintenance Manager. This role is responsible for supporting safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of plant assets through strong maintenance and reliability practices. The Maintenance Engineer will rotate coverage on 2nd and 3rd shifts and weekends, providing technical leadership and hands-on support to the multi-craft union team. This position is ideal for an early- to mid-career engineer seeking to develop into a future maintenance leadership role.

Key Responsibilities
• Support the Maintenance Manager in leading the maintenance team and driving a strong HSE culture in all activities.
• Develop, implement, and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for plant equipment (mixers, ovens, utilities, dust collection, prepreg machines, hot melt systems, solution dip systems, etc.).
• Assist in the execution and continuous improvement of the Mechanical Integrity (MI) program, including inspections, testing, and documentation.
• Lead or participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and reliability improvement initiatives to eliminate recurring failures and reduce unplanned downtime.
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate maintenance work using SAP (CMMS); ensure high-quality work orders, accurate history, and effective backlog management.
• Provide technical support for troubleshooting, repairs, and modifications to equipment and systems.
• Oversee the quality of maintenance work and ensure compliance with HSE and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and external contractors to deliver safe and efficient maintenance execution.
• Participate in the rotation for 2nd/3rd shift and weekend coverage, providing on-site leadership and decision-making during off-hours.
• Mentor and coach technicians; foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Support the Maintenance Manager with budget tracking, contractor management, and spare parts strategy as needed.

Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• 3-7 plus years of industrial maintenance experience in a chemical, process, or manufacturing environment.
• Experience with SAP (CMMS) or similar maintenance management systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead or coordinate maintenance activities in a unionized, multi-craft environment is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of preventive/predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability engineering principles.
• Commitment to HSE excellence and safe work practices.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness and ability to work 2nd/3rd shifts and weekends as part of a rotation.
• Further studies in maintenance, engineering, or reliability are highly regarded.

You will get:
  • Competitive salary and benefits package. The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $88,840 to $110,600 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
