The Logistics and Materials Manager is responsible for the effective management of all assigned GMP shipment, handling and warehousing processes. This will include coordinating with internal groups, such as Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Quality Control as well as external suppliers and, contract test labs (CTLs). This individual will be responsible for oversight of a team of material coordinators who transfer materials between warehousing, manufacturing, and client sites, and the development and oversight of logistics and distribution providers.
Responsibilities- Directs the activities of the warehouse team which oversees the receiving, inventory control, and logistics processes for components and raw materials used in GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Oversees logistics and storage at three facilities in Carlsbad and San Diego.
- Develops and maintains external relationships with subcontractors, and service providers.
- Develops procedures and systems to ensure proper control of GMP materials.
- Interfaces cross-functionally at all levels within the organization.
- Works with the partner organizations and internal QA as necessary to ensure that timelines are met, milestones and products are delivered on schedule, and any deviations, investigations, CAPAs are initiated, addressed and closed within target timeframes.
- Participates in internal, partner and regulatory audits.
- Drives development of relevant metrics, data collection and reporting.
- Manages and leads goal setting, team member development and administration of performance evaluations.
- Applies knowledge of service performance metrics.
- Uses strong analytical and problem-solving skills to initiate corrective action; ability to make rational decisions with limited information and operate independently.
- Operates to the highest ethical and moral standards.
- Complies with Abzena's policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications- A Bachelor's Degree in supply-chain function or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years in a cGMP warehouse position, commercial production experience preferred.
- Demonstrable knowledge of warehousing procedures and inventory management.
- Deep knowledge of raw materials, pharmaceutical production processes, quality control, and material costs.
- APICS and IATA certification for shipping dangerous goods preferred.
- Proven experience in building materials management departments, processes and systems.
- Working knowledge of the biopharmaceutical lifecycle from early clinical through commercialization preferred.
- Proven track record of continuous improvement with quantified results.
- Experience with MRP planning systems, preferably IFS.
$120,000 - $150,000 a year
