Role Overview

  • The Live Data Collection Manager is the day-to-day operational leader of the Live Data department, reporting directly to the SVP of Live Data.


  • This role leads the Supervisor team and owns the execution of daily Live Data operations. The Collection Manager sets priorities, manages workload and staffing requirements, leads department meetings, oversees projects and initiatives, and ensures the department is appropriately staffed and operating effectively.


  • The Collection Manager is the primary operational point of contact for significant issues and escalations. This role requires someone who can make timely decisions in high-pressure situations, provide clear direction, and ensure issues are resolved effectively with minimal operational or client impact.


  • The Collection Manager will also serve as a senior subject matter expert across sports and live data, working with Development and other teams to improve collection software and processes, support client integrations, develop new sports and competitions, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and scale the operation.


Work Environment

  • This is an in-office position.


  • Evening and weekend work is required based on the live sports schedule and operational needs of the department.


  • The role requires flexibility to provide operational support outside of regular working hours when necessary.


Key Responsibilities

Day-to-Day Leadership

  • Lead the Supervisor team and own daily Live Data operations.


  • Set priorities, assign ownership, and ensure projects, tasks, and operational initiatives are completed on time.


  • Shape Supervisor schedules to ensure appropriate leadership coverage for the daily workload, including evenings, weekends, and major sporting events.


  • Provide direction, coaching, and feedback to Supervisors while ensuring consistent performance and execution across the department.


  • Manage performance and address operational or performance concerns when they arise.


  • Serve as the primary operational point of contact for significant issues and escalations.


  • Provide operational support outside of regular working hours when necessary.


Sports Data & Product Expertise

  • Serve as a senior subject matter expert across sports, live data collection, data points, mapping, and data workflows.


  • Work closely with Development to drive continuous improvements to live data collection software.


  • Define and communicate requirements for data points, workflows, frontend, backend, database, and collection functionality.


  • Work with Client Support and other teams to support client integrations and resolve data-related issues.


  • Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve the efficiency, scalability, and quality of data collection.


Performance & Process Improvement

  • Establish and maintain KPIs and performance standards for Supervisors and Analysts.


  • Review performance and identify operational, staffing, training, and process gaps.


  • Ensure training and retraining requirements are addressed and followed through.


  • Identify recurring operational issues and implement sustainable solutions.


  • Work cross-functionally with Admin, QA, Training, Scheduling, Recruitment, Client Support, Development, and other teams to improve Live Data operations.


Strategic Support

  • Work directly with the SVP of Live Data on department priorities, projects, and long-term initiatives.


  • Own projects and initiatives assigned by the SVP and drive them through completion.


  • Identify opportunities to improve, scale, and expand Live Data operations.


  • Provide industry and operational expertise to support department strategy and decision-making.


Measures of Success

Success in this role will be measured by the Collection Manager's ability to:

  • Maintain consistent daily and event coverage through effective Supervisor scheduling and workforce planning.


  • Improve operational performance, data quality, and issue resolution across Live Data.


  • Reduce recurring operational issues and minimize client impact from live data incidents.


  • Ensure Supervisor and Analyst performance and KPI targets are consistently met.


  • Drive assigned projects and operational initiatives to completion on schedule.


  • Deliver measurable efficiency and automation improvements to Live Data processes.


  • Successfully support the launch of new sports and competitions.


  • Support successful client integrations and data requirements.


Candidate Profile

  • 5+ years of experience in a management or leadership role, preferably within the live sports data industry or a closely related field.


  • Strong knowledge of live sports data collection, data points, mapping, and data workflows.


  • Extensive knowledge of football, basketball, soccer, and other major sports.


  • Experience working with live data collection software and a strong understanding of the technology supporting it.


  • Proven experience managing and developing supervisors, team leads, or similar operational teams.


  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions quickly in high-pressure operational environments.


  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, determine solutions, and take ownership through resolution.


  • Experience working with Product/Development teams and translating operational needs into technical requirements.


  • Client support or client integration experience preferred.


  • Experience with Jira and project/task management tools.


  • Highly organized with strong project management and prioritization skills.


  • Strong communication skills and the ability to lead, coach, and manage a team effectively.


  • College degree preferred.
